how long would it take to go back to factory from a hydra ems?
would it be possible to use the hydra most of the time but for maybe 1 special week of the year go back to an ecutek tune on a stock ems?
how long would it take to go back??? i like the ability of the hydra to control 8 injectors and that it is supposed to be much easier to tune @ higher hp than a piggy back etc. but still want that sticker on my car.

First, I dont think running 8 injectors is a lvery popular idea, especially when the hydra is so good at controlling 1000+cc injectors. Most end up going with 4 larger injectors.
Anyway, past that, assuming that you have an ECU capable of running your car, it would take less than 30 minutes to swap out the hydra for a stock ECU. It is as simple as pulling up the carpet, removing the 3 bolts that hold down the kick panel, un bolting the hydra from the floorpan, unplugging the ECM harness, mounting the stock ECU back, and plugging the hydra's MAP sensor tube so you dont have a leak. The place you run in to problems are MAF sensor (which hydra only uses as an IAT, but stock ECU needs it for fuel mapping), and the other various emissions devices that most Hydra users toss in the trash. |

You don't even need to pop for an ECUTEK, just do an OpenECU reflash (free besides a $79 cable and any professional tuning needed). You can have most any CELs disabled you like and adjust the fueling for your MAF & Injector setup.
I'm running this on my built GT35R build right now for break-in. Russ |
