Default '08 WRX Leather and Moonroof Option? Also STi Info...

http://autos.canada.com/news/story.h...9d7438ebe3&p=1

Although absent for the time being, the high-performance 300-horsepower WRX STi is expected to return later in the model year. Subaru is still working out the details as to the Impreza's base and optional equipment, but you can expect all to arrive with air conditioning, cruise control and power windows, locks and mirrors. The rally-inspired WRX adds a limited-slip differential, larger wheel and tire package, fancier interior trim with performance bucket seats, bigger brakes and an available aero body kit. Highlighting an extensive list of extra-cost goodies will be a 10-speaker audio system, power moonroof, climate control and leather-covered seats.

That's not really "more info" than we already had.

While the only option of the ones mentioned that interests me is the audio system, the fact that they are even considering an extensive list of options can only be a good thing.

I think everything about the "rally-inspired WRX" is talking about the new STI. The '08 WRX/S-GT isn't really that rally-inspired.

Default Leather and moonroof on 08 wrx?

http://autos.canada.com/news/story.h...9d7438ebe3&p=2

It was posted in a thread below but got locked out for some reason... anyway, this is the first time I ever see mention of leather and a power moonroof being available as options. Can anyone, anywhere confirm that this could be true? If this turns out to be the case, subaru is finally thinking, i mean i love the car (especially after seeing the edmunds first drive pics) and with leather and a moonroof... wow, santa came early!

I posted the other thread and still don't know why this wasn't news worthy and needed to be locked

The reason why I locked it is because you're posting redundant info... If I was to allow a thread for every source that says that same thing, this place will fall apart....

This one will be merged with the other but if every new thread is going to have the same info, it's going to get locked.

Personally, I think itís fairly important news as no other news/media outlet has made any mention of leather or a sunroof. While it may not be 09 sti news, itís definitely worth while, a lot more than ďmy wife saw a 09 stiĒ (no flame intended)Ö back on track, the only other place Iíve seen leather and 08 wrx together was in one pic of a S-GT press car, which had one leather and one cloth seat and even there you canít get a full look at it, only the bottom part of the seat (along with those ugly micky mouse gauges). The sunroof Iíve still seen no mention of anywhere, but considering the Subaru marketing campaigns going on in Canada are all about ďfun in the sunĒ la laÖ it wouldnít make sense that it would be the *NEW* model, but the only out of the lineup without an available sunroof. Keep in mind guys that is a Windsor newspaper writing this stuff and Iím holding my breath that the information comes from Subaru Canada, which can very well have different features/options than SOA (as is the case with pretty much every other model). Itís about time we get something that isnít available in the states, for years Iíve been drooling over the evo, more recently the wrx limited or the sti limited, not to mention features in pretty much every other high end car, (bmwís night vision/radar-based cruise control, ariel atom, lotus excige, etc, etcÖ the list can go on for days)

EDIT: and the honda CBR125R...

Great news...

When I read the article I think it was referring to the 2008 STI with the option of moon roof and leather seats, not the base WRX.

Most of the article was about the WRX and then they started to talk about the STI variant. The article says that the execs have not finalized what options will be available prior to release. The article then follows by listing possible options for the car when it is released later this year which included the moon roof and leather interior.

wchw16-thanks for the information, which actually was useful, even if it is related to the Canadian market. Some folks down here just can't get over over the fact that if Benedict Arnold had done his job right and taken Fort Quebec, Canada would now be part of the U.S.........

Canada is what it is because it isn't part of the US... don't get me wrong, I love the states, but...

This time around, Subaru has added frames to its door glass, which creates a more rigid body structure and reduces wind noise.
Are they talking about the chassis here for the "rigid body structure" comment?

If so

^^ when you open your door and the window is down there is nothing but the door. In other cars, open the door with the window down, there is still a frame around the window. This has caused problems in the long run and creates a lot of wind noise so this is a good thing that subaru is getting away from that even though I like the frameless window.
As a employee of Subaru, there is no mention of leather in the Impreza in 08. However navi and vdc in available in most models yes.
The STI is not finalized, all we know so far is that it will be a 5 door no STI sedan next year. I would say expect another 20 hp and the option of Navi, sunroof, I don't know.

Last edited by IMPRZV1; 06-19-2007 at 04:42 PM. Reason: Sorry, no sunroof option in the 08 Impreza, I was wrong before, I sincerely appoligize. Still no leather.

^his question was how framed windows increase "rigid body structure". I can see how it would create a more rigid *door* structure, but body structure?? I thought Subaru's reasoning behind using frameless windows was that it allowed more room to make the structure around the doorframe that much more substantial (rigid body structure). I like frameless, too, BTW.

Sunroof option on WRX, say you, eh? Good to hear. Standalone?

^ Okay, fair enough. Take the doors off your car sometime and see how it drives. That should give you an idea. I have lifted Jeep Cherokee that I take the doors off occasionally, deffinately a different vehicle handling wise with the doors off. SO I guess if you add the frame around the window part of the door that will make the body more rigid due to the added stiffness of the door, does that make sense now...?

Subaru has had sunroofs in the WRX since 2004. I had an 04 and I have an 06 now, both had sunroofs!

But no pictures that have appeared anywhere of the 08 show an opening in the roof... personally i'd be really upset if it didn't have a sunroof. To most people on this board i've noticed it doesn't make much of a difference (maybe i'm wrong) but to me it's key, i hate being in a car without a sunroof, especially in the summer on a hot day or a warm breezy night

^^What spuck said, except I also like the roof to allow extra light into the cabin the 70% of the time it's gray & rainy where I live. Helps the interior feel larger, too (if you're not tall, anyway).

I still wanna see the frosted glass roof from the B11S make it into production.

Hopefully it will be its own separate option and not bundled into some package:
I don't want no sunroof in my STI adding to the expense, complexity, weight and noise and decreasing my car's body rigidity.

at 5'7" I could give a crap about the headroom either way...

Body rigidity isn't compromised with a sunroof. It's your frame that carries the load, not the body panels.
