Hi! I have question, how often does the automatic transmission fluid need to be changed? I just had my oil change today at Mr. Lube (MY99 TS, with 28K kms). And they said that it's recommended that I change my AT Fluid once a year... is this correct? I thought it was like once every 160K since it's a sealed unit... or is it different for our subes? I looked in the manual but never saw anything...

I haven't change my RS AT fluid yet, but YES most garage will recommend that AT Fluid should be changed once a year. I'll change mine evey year!

Check your Subaru Owners manual. I really doubt they would say to replace it every year.

The regular servicing for my 5 speed RS is every 48kms.... but I already switched to synthetic.

My maintance book say that AT fluid should be changed every 48000 and 96000 km, but it never state when I should change my MT fluid.. hmmm.

Hrm, I did saw that on the manual recommended services AT 49K and 96K... hrm, maybe after this one, I would do it every two years.. and oh, did I mention that the stock AT fluid in my car was yellow? as opposed to the dextron III reddish/pinkish colour? Or is it dextron II that they put for stock fluid?
