Default Subaru Rubber Floor Mats - Review

I ordered a set of Rubber Floor Mats for $38.00 from SubaruParts.com and must say they are very nice.

The mats are very heavy and come in a set of 4. The front pair are custom cut to fit the Impreza and the rear pair are two small rectangles. The mats have deep channels that will contain quite a bit of water, mud, slush or what ever you have on your feet. They have "SUBARU" written down the side and look very good in the car.

The one problem I have found with these mats is that despite an abundance of plastic spikes on the bottom they tend to walk forward over time. Every few days I press the clutch pedal and find it binding on the mat and have to yank the mat back into place. The mats were designed to fit the car perfectly and I am surprised that were not designed to fit over the stock mat holding pin.

Other than the creeping problem these are excellant great looking mats at a fair price. I would defintely buy them again and recommend them.

Craig

Thumbs up

Just got our set of Subaru rubber floormats in from subaruparts.com two weeks ago and they've worked out great!, We just placed them right over the existing carpeted mats. They're actually more comfortable than the regular carpeting mats and provide pretty good cushion for your heel.

Unlike Craig's mats, ours have stayed put. On the passenger-side where we've experienced a great deal of creep with the carpeted mats, the rubber ones have not moved at all.

Great to catch all of that crud and water you track into the car now that it's winter. But they're so comforatble, we may keep them in year round!

Worth the $38. Two thumbs up!

Mine walk too.. but I think you may have found the secret... put them over the STOCK mats, not directly to the floor.

Gonna try that tonight when I get home.

I tried to get them. They are on national backorder. There are too many people buying Imprezas. I guess Subaru underestimated the popularity of the car. Hope they hurry up with the STi. The wife gave me the green light to buy one when they arrive!

I think they are designed to sit on top of the stock carpeted mats. My car came with them and thats the way they were installed and they don't move around on me. Worth trying anyway.

I've got Subaru rubber mats in mine, but they're not "custom fit" for the front, really... They must've had a different set for the old 2.5RS sedan than for the coupe, or maybe 2000 was a year for retarded mats or something.... The rears are still the grey rectangles, but the fronts (which say "Subaru") are still pretty small... They lie only on the flat part of the floor, they don't go up under the pedals at all. Very short mats. I have seen darker-colored Subaru rubber mats that are longer... maybe those are the ones you guys have? Who knows.

My personal favorite mats are the Cannon ones sold my MacNeil Auto in all of the car magazines. www.macneilauto.com They're the Cannon/WeatherTech mats. I had the black/red piping ones in my old Integra and they were awesome. VERY heavy-duty.

Just about any mat will slide around on the floor. That's just all there is to it, unless you have a factory carpeted mat that secures onto one of those pins on the floor.

I'm not sure whether they were "designed" to go on top of the the carpeted mats but they seem to be working fine. Both sets of rubber and carpeted mats are staying put whereas before we would have severe creep on the passanger side.

It works4me!

The cannon ones aren't made specifically for the Impreza. I got some for christmas and ended up taking them back because they don't fit correctly. There is no space cut out for the dead pedal and they just didn't sit correctly on the floor.

I looked at the SOA floormats and thought they were too small. So I went with Weather Tech. Full coverage now. Price was $59.00 for the fronts.

Impreza WRX STi

Hello all,
Just though I would share my experience. I have had these as long as I have had the 04' and they have done their fair share of work but I noticed about after one years time the driver side mat was wearing right next to the grooves. Then the water or what ever substance I had on my shoes would just leak through. After closer inspection of the mat it had 3 big rips right where I wold heel toe shift. Decent quality but would not purchase again. Where can I get me a set of the Blue carpeted mats for the STi with the embroidery on them???? Please PM me if anyone has a source with a decent price, Thanks in advance!
