Default Thread for 2006/07' WRX's with Stock Transmissions with no problems with more WHP/WTQ

So I tried searching for a thread like this and couldn't find one. If there IS one, let me know and close this one...

I basically made this thread for people that have stock 06/07' WRX trannys with tunes and upgrades that haven't had an issue. All I ever hear is negative things about them breaking and busting and blah blah blah but hardly EVER hear anything positive! I'm sure there ARE some success story's out there@!!@!!

So lets hear it!!! How much WHP/WTQ are you running on your 2006 STOCK Transmission with NO issues and what kind of driving do you do/driver are you?!?

Its more like the news...you can't go around reporting on things that DIDN'T happen.

beaking news at 11:00: "tonight, this bank didn't get robbed!"

There are hundreds and hundreds of 06+ WRX's with mods. A small % of them have transmission issues.

Of course on an automotive forum, the threads you'll find will be people breaking things, not people with no problems.

This is about the 50th thread on the issue...yet another reason why no one is posting.

I'm glad this thread got started. 329/382 on a VF39 before my 20g on stock trans. If you drive like a knucklehead you can break your car with no mods. My 20g will be dynoed within the next month.

I guess it is all about what you do and how you drive your car. Making sure your car is fully engaged in gear when driving/shifting is very important. Not launching and trying to get a 1.3 60ft is very important..... i guess if your just the guy whose a spirited driver that loves the feel of his head sucking back into the seat from a roll on, your OK! If your the guy who is at the raceway every weekend shooting for low 11's in a 13 second car, your most likely going to be getting new gears soon!! I'll rebuild mine when I have to.

Corrected, with methanol. It was actually 381.77. Search my username and you'll see my dyno sheet. My TD06-20g went on 2 weeks ago and my injectors got here Friday so I'll be putting them in next week and turning the boost up. I'm only running 18psi.

I hope so. The 20g is faster at 18psi than my vf39 was at 20psi with methanol. I just hope I don't break my gears.

Just drive it smart. Like I said earlier, making sure your IN GEAR fully engaged so you don't grind and take that foot off the gas when you shift, dont be power shifting...it KILLS transmissions. As for 2nd and 3rd gear rolls, I think your just fine as long as you dont slam it into gear every time u goto the grocery store....but I guess its all about how you've treated you car/tranny prior to getting ur car tuned, and how you treat it afterwards also...im about to be in the same boat as you so we'll see..... Make sure you post your numbers/gains when your car is done...i cant wait man~!

I dyno'd at 241/274 stage 2 without protune. That was run for a few thousand miles. Now I have a vf39 and knock on wood there havent been any issues so far.

refer to all the 'weak 02 tranny' threads... horsepower/torque really don't have much effect. an asshat driver can kill a tranny on stock power, a cautious driver can put 400 hp on a stock tranny. (notice i didn't say 'good' driver... i've seen lots of people that think they are good drivers who really have no idea how to nicely drive a stick...)

I have an 06. PDX tuned, 268 wheel HP. I drive rather aggressively, but I don't launch. I have had the diff and tranny fluids swapped from stock. I have not experienced any problems with any of my drivetrain, I was running RWD for a while before I got tuned. Up here in Alaska, we only have 2WD dynos to do dyno tunes on.
