Default what's the best all-weather tire as far as handling, life, most for the money, etc.

Looking to replace the stock RE92s for winter, which I really didn't want to do because I'm planning on getting some P1's w/ tires after winter...But after driving in the snow this weekend, I realized how much of a nightmare the stock tires are, and how dangerous....

Anyways, I'm looking to spend no more than $400; I need an all-weather tire that has good performance in dry/wet/snow conditions, along with a decent treadlife...What do you guys recommend?

Thank you & happy holidays,
Jim

Hi Jim,

Your safest option would be to go with a true winter tire ... and there are some which would come in close to $400 ... however if you want an all season ... The Dunlop SP 5000 is used by many and ranked as one of the best all season tires ... the Toyo FZ4 is also considered a good all season tire by many members

I run a true winter performance tire on my legacy... the traction and performance is simply much better

you should check out this thread as well ...

good luck..and enjoy the holidays!

Default Get proper winter tires !!!

Since you plan on getting 17's in the spring, do yourself a favor and get some winter tires for the stock 16" wheels. For the most part, "ALL SEASON" means that they do not work "great" in the summer or in the winter. For a fun car, all season tires are not. (Call Luke at the Tire Rack.)

I have Michellin Artic Alpines in 205/55R16 (stock tire size) on my WRX wagon. I used them for one season with my RS last year and kept them for the wagon this year. I had the dealer mount them on the WRX rims when I bought the car.

This is the only "true" winter tire I have ever owned so I don't have anything to compare them to. I am one satisfied customer. I think the dry performance is better than the stock Re92's, and they are just great in any type of weather. I plan on running them through the winter, dismounting them come spring so I can put 205/50R16 Bridgestone Re-730's on the car for summer. Next winter I'll buy 16" steel rims to mount the snows on for another season.

The Atric Alpines are around $90/each I think, but you can find cheaper winter tires if you shop around.

Do yourself a favor and get a set of Winter Sport M2's from Dunlop. They are only $102.00 each and they will ooutperform any allseason tire on the market in the snow and ice.

Question Dunlops best?

I'm wondering how you would compare the the Dunlop M2's with Blizzak LM22's and other H-rated winter tires.

Cheers,
