Default Destroyed intercooler- will warranty cover or go to insurace company?

This question just popped into my head and I want to know if the warranty will cover an intercooler + installation if it was destroyed by an object such as a bird, rock, etc.

Warranty - no. Insurance? maybe. However - you'll be out your deductible, which is probably more expensive than picking up a used one in the for sale forums or on eBay and installing it yourself (replacing an intercooler is trivial)

Definately insurance....it's not a defect...it would be caused by an outside influence

Damn that cheap SOA. They should design the intercoolers to be able to handle normal driving environments like Bricks! I mean they have those commercials with the cars "off road." They just suck, and won't support the customer.

PS: I just read the "Subaru will use posts against you" thread, and my sarcasm is stuck open.

A bird got cut in half by my scoop once. Went right through the grill I installed. Didnt hurt the intercooler, the bird wasn't so lucky.

The screens I installed on the front air intakes have done wonders to prevent damage to the stuff behind them.

I would just look for someone online that selling one... In the long run if you claim it on your insurance you might be buying 3 TMIC since your rates go up

I'm a licensed insurance rep in PA. If a bird, animal, flying object, fire, theft, or vandalism happen to your car this would be handled under your comprehensive coverage. If you rear-end someone, hit a pole, hit a curb, or hit a big hole in the ground this would be covered under collision.

Two things about comprehensive:
1. MOST insurance companies do not surcharge for this claim (Allstate doesn't surcharge comp claims).
2. Taking a low deductible does not affect your premium by much (going from $500- $100 might not cost much extra)

To put it simply if a bird hits your car and the damage appraisal is considerably higher than your deductible get it fixed. Collision claims do hurt your rates with most companies.

I've had 2 comprehensive claims on my car so far and my rates have never gone up. I also have a $0 deductable for comprehensive and it doesn't cost much more than having a $500 deductable.
