Default Track upgrades for an 06 STi

I really want to get an 06 STi for track days. What are the first mods that you would do. I don't care about autoX or straight line speed. What is the safest and most reliable mods to do to improve performance and feel around a track.

I would of course do TBE and tune but what about SS brake lines or sways or... you tell me

......w 0 w......the exhaust and tune are a good start.

A real 'performance' alignment and some GOOD brake pads, SS lines, and some good fluid would be first on my list, after the EM/TBE.

....springs and tops, a set of bars and endlinks, ALK.....the list is almost endless

I would do a rear sway bar 22mm or bigger adjustible with some solid end links and mounts. Best sus mod I ever did! Gets rid of the dreadful understeer.

if you are going for the track i would say do both front and rear sways. 24mm adjustables give you room to setup the car for your driving style. power mods are optional but good track times will come from an upgraded driver mod. suspension would be the best place to work on after your stg 2 plans. springs/ coils, sways, camber plates, strut braces (some people argue these), ALK, subframe bracing/ lockdown, etc. there are so many things you can do to improve our cars track wise.

wow exactly...so many ways to go.

My set up:

Invidia divorced wastegate catted downpipe
hks hi power catback
k&n tyhoon short ram intake
walbro 255 fuel pump
one step colder ngk spark plugs
accessport and protuned for 91 and 96 oct
work emo 17x8 +47
falken rt615's
cusco type 2 lower arm brace ( i highly suggest)
swift springs
white sway bars, front 29-27mm rear 26-24mm adjustable
goodridge ss lines
motul fluids

My setup has been relialbe for daily driving and track. If you wanna get more hard core I suggest coilovers, toyo RA1 race tires, and rims that are 8.5 inches. For me 8.5 inch width rims.

easy: steel brakelines, high temp brake fluid, brake pads.

In no particular order:
#1 - Coilovers that are > $2,000 IMO
#2 - Sway bars that match your coilovers
#3 - Corner balance and performance alignment
#4 - ALK
#5 - Stiffer tranny, shifter, and engine mounts/bushings
#6 - Carlab X-Brace
#7 - SS brake lines
#8 - High temp brake fluid
#9 - High performance track pads
#10 - R compound tires

I'm probably missing some, but at least it's a good compilation of what many others have and would recommend. The actual brands and products are for your research. Good luck.
