Arrow PowerChip for Legacy 2.5? Anyone have any experience or info?

I saw that Power Chip (Australian) makes a chip for the 1996-99 Legacy 2.5 that costs about $352 US online. Has anyone heard anything about this chip? Know of any other chips avialable for our cars (besides the JC Sports Chip)? I know that some cars benifit greatly from a simple chip installation, but I have never heard of a performance chip available for our cars until now. Any info would be great!!

Thanks

Hmmm, haven't seen that before. Have you tried contacting them about US-market 2.5s? I wouldn't be surprised at all if our ECU is a bit different than the AUS-market ECU, so they may say it won't work. Can't hurt to ask, though.

Doing some quick unit conversions using the numbers off their webpage I get a stock engine with 154hp and 162ft-lb, which doesn't match our 2.5L specs. Kind of a cross between the '96 2.5GT engine (155hp and 155ft-lb) and the '97-99 2.5GT engine (165hp and 162ft-lb).

Wow they show huge gains from just a $400 chip.

By the way it said GST included. GST (Goods and Services Tax) is purely for Australian purchases. In other words if you order it outside of Australia they shouldn't charge you that 10% GST. You have to figure in the cost of shipping so it may even out.

But anyway I did the conversion. 252NM of Torque = 185lb ft Wow

130KW = 175 Horsepower.

Thats pretty darn good for just a chip upgrade. It probably also flattens out the power curve which is priceless.

A comparably priced device would be an SAFC. Max gains from that are only a couple hp and lb ft but very beneficial for evening out the power curve.

Let us know if you find anything out.
