Default Whats the deal with the red pinstripe around the 06 grill?

I continue to see pictures or cars with that red pinstripe around the center grill of 06+ cars. Whats that all about? Is that the "Im faster" badge?

Seriously...why is everyone doing that now days?

Most people like the looks of it,
Others like the VW look.
That's all, nothing more.
IMHO, it is their car, they are allowed to do as they wish.

Plus, putting a red pinstripe around anything is cool nowadays. You know...tiMeAtTAcKsYle wheels, why not pimp up the grille with some red striping. I'm gonna has Ish do some red piping on my interior then we gonna hit-chu wit the red pinstriping on your rearview mirror dogg! Ain't nobody done that!

whats funny is if someone would have did that as a DIY and there were no time attacks or RA-R. i suspect the flame of the century would have went down

I'm surprised the "...your car is not an RA-R so you cant do that!!" flaming hasn't already started.

Give it time though

I'm actually thinking about illuminating my Subaru logo with LED's from the back. I think it would look cool. Once I get my project started, I'll post pics.

If you search for the DIY I wrote you will see that it is half full of people with questions and pics, and half full of "you're stupid, you don't own an RA-R". Why did I do it? I find that the install/modding process is just as fun as buying new parts. A part you buy and bolt on in 10 minutes isn't as gratifying as doing some handiwork, no matter how simple it may be. Plus, at least on the WRB cars, I think the red stripe adds a sense of dimension and helps to define the front end and create a focal point. I intend to make my front badge red at some point too to go with my red on blue theme.

Did the idea originate from the RA-R? Yes. Do I claim to be one, have one, imitate one? No.
