Default Smokey the Bear says...

*cough cough* sure is smokey out there!

wow... yellow skies and nothing like filling my lungs with ash and smoke. From how nice yesterday was, to wake up to this was eerie. I felt like I was living in Silent Hill.

I hear this big fire happend due to someone sharpening thier shovel, the sparks from the shovel ignited some dry wood and poof, ruined many Alaskan's day. Good job Mr. I Sharpen My Shovel To Dig Myself A Deeper Hole Man. You have blotted out the sun from existance to us Alaskans and now should have to pay every fine available for your mistakes.

well what ever he had planned to dig up has burned away by now.

Oh when driving back through canada we came across transport truck that had overheated and caught fire on the side of the road. It burned away probably a good 50 acres but was well under control when we drove by. I was cursing my camera for having dead batteries while the cool fire department forest fire helicoptor was hovering nearby over a lake getting water. Looked pretty cool...

I don't get any days off. I work every single day. My "days off" are working 8 hours instead of 16 hours.

By the evening I didn't notice the smoke at all. I played ultimate frisbee for about 2 hours and I was fine. There is supposed to be a little rain today.

So, the out of town in-laws were in town the last week visiting, they're from bumble-desert, CA. They commented on the many high-wildfire-alert-type signs along our travels, saying that it was crazy, and there wasn't much fire danger. I told them that a couple weeks of no rain makes the state a big firepit, they looked at me like I was crazy. Next day, we drive through one large fire. The day after that, Anchorage was covered in smoke from another fire.

They still probably think I'm an idiot , but at least they're gone.

How can they think you are crazy when it happened right in front of them?
