Post Clutch Shudder

Hey,

I've been lurking on the site for 8 or 9 months now and finally have a question. It's in regards to the clutch shudder issue that many people have had problems with.

I was just wondering if anyone in Canada has had their dealership replace the clutch under warranty. I know that Yeoman posted a while back that Trento Motors in Toronto did his. I currently am taking my car to Richmond Hill Subaru. My 18k service is scheduled for this afternoon, and I'd like to get the clutch shudder situation resolved before the clutch gets worse and they blame it on me.

Anyone have experience with this, or any recommendations?

Thanks,
Jeff

If you're already having problems with it, I would definately take it in. They would certainly be justified in negating their warranty obligations if you had known about the problem before and yet did nothing to get it rectified. If you at least take it in, you are now on record of having made the complaint and if they send you away and the clutch goes afterwards, you have the service to fall back on and use it a leverage to get them to fix it.

I occasionaly get clutch shudder but it usually happens when I'm being sloppy and not engaging the clutch properly.

Can you let me know how it goes with that dealer? Thats where I got my RS but I'm not really from the area (just work in Markham) if they have good service I'd like to have my clutch looked at.

Hey.

I just got back from the dealership. I asked to speak to the service manager, hoping that at the very least I could get my problem documented. He said he had never heard of the clutch shudder problem. Immediately I expected to get the run-around like many others here have gotten.
I had brought along 20 pages of I-Club posts from members experiencing the same problem. He looked through them briefly - then phoned SOC. He said that SOC thinks they have solved the clutch shudder problem now, but that some cars may still be experiencing it. I'm supposed to take my car in next Tuesday to get clutch, plate etc. replaced - courtesy of SOC.

The service manager was really good (can't remember his name though). All my service has been at Richmond Hill. Their routine service seems a bit expensive and is slow at times, but if this repair goes well I will definitely continue to take my car there.

If anyone else is having the problem in Canada, I'd suggest phoning SOC or getting your dealership to. They seem willing to help. All in all, it was a painless experience. Hopefully it continues that way.

Thanks for the replies,
Jeff

Bow,

Good thinking taking a print out of all those post about the clutch shudder on the board. It seems to me that SOC/SOA's first and initial defense is to deny everything.

Kudos to ya' for quick thinking and now a new clutch.
