Default To the parents in the forums...need some gift ideas

ok so next week i'll be leaving the country, my parents still have some family in vietnam. i'm need some gift ideas (nothing extravagant maybe $40-$50 for the 3 kids) for 3 kids, 2 boys ages 5 and 8 and 1 girl age 6? i already got them 3 school bags filled with map pencils, crayons, and markers. i think they will really enjoy it especially since the quality of the stuff you get over there is utter crap. and 3 coloring books....do 8 year olds still color? not sure if i'll be able to bring the coloring books in the country though...last time i was there my parents brought over a video cassette and they confiscated it at the airport

Get them some nice clothes or shoes. You can get some very decent name brands for less at Burlington Coat Factory. Just don't go there in the weekends cause that place gets packed with shopaholics.

Leapfrogs are excellent educational toys but I figure since this is in Vietnam. These toys either come in english or spanish or both.

Have a safe trip and take some pics for us to see!

All good ideas... I would definitely find out if there is anything they are in "need" of.

My kids are happiest with art stuff (4, 6, and 8yrs)... I think the backpack full of stuff is a great idea.

Michael's (art store) you can get some kits (pipe cleaner sculpture, paint by numbers, pine would derby cars, modeling clay etc.) that the 8yr. old would like. My wife goes there and seems to buy half the store for $20.00!

Shoes, clothes etc. are nice as well.

Have a safe trip... I always wanted to visit Vietnam while I was overseas.
