What will it take to get an 06-07 Legacy GT, auto in the 12's and still be able to take it in for waranty work without raising to many questions or geting it voided?

LMAO and keep your warranty??? and bring it in for service without hassle?? nothing.

where exactly are you? depending on where you are you may or may not be able to be hassled when it comes to warrant work. however, to bust into 12's in the 5eat, you will be spending $$$ and a lot of research to do it. you will need to beef up your tranny to handle the power that will be needed.

check out legacygt.com/forums for a better choice of info. so far, i'm the closest to 12's in a 5EAT up here in AK.

i have no more warranty. that ended right after we crossed the border on our return trip home earlier this month.

there are several options that can get you the power to get into 12's however you still need to learn to drive the car down the track in order to get it.

you want a full TBE, upgraded intercooler, upgraded turbo, depending on what turbo route you go, you'll need injectors and fuel pump, tranny cooler, valve body and solenoid upgrade (maybe even beef up the TC), engine management and a helluva good tune, race fuel or mixture of the sorts (check out my vendor thread: hi-speed solutions- Torco), etc. there is no such thing as bolt ons for the 5eat that will get you immediately into 12's. good luck. you will find you have MUCH research and reading to do! hope you have deep pocket books cause it'll cost you.

A 12 second car with a warranty? no disrespect but good thing I wasn't drinking something when I read that.

You can't have one with the other...

Exactly, my comment was not in response to anyone else or their joking and use of

You simply can not have a 12 second subaru legacy and expect warranty to cover everything. Granted it will not be voided... but you can pretty much consider everything powertrain wise to be not covered.

GM likes to void the whole warranty if they see something modified.
No I had a 2000 Trans Am and yes it was runing 12's and I was still able to take it in for warranty work.

Subaru just restricts it... only time it gets voided is if the car was wrecked and rebuilt with a salvaged title.

I know we can all let Hope fill you in, just thought i would mention that Jerrad from PDXtuning has a gt35r rotated mount turbo on his LGT. Not an automatic, and not warrantied, but easily a low 12 second car. If not 11's with the right driver. And the whole setup plus tuning would cost you around 5-8 grand.

for the 5EAT, again, there is more to it than just slapping on bolt ons. you can learn the hard way or do some research. from EXPERIENCE and in my own pursuit of 12's in a 5EAT, i ran into many issues. the tranny is fine but when you start launching the car regularly and beat on it, with more power and torque, the tranny isn't used to it so it requires beefing it up. after I did my STI swap, i had to also do the valve body and solenoid treatment, tranny cooler etc since the lower gears were starting to slip. i've had the car road tuned and dyno tuned and probably running b/w 260-280 awhp (we could not get an accurate power reading due to heat soak on the dyno). i just need that extra oomph to get me into 12's as i'm currently at 13.1. that's with a pretty hefty launch (not tranny killing but pretty agressive) and mad manual shifting at redline. feel free to PM me for further info or approx ups and downs of building a 5EAT.

Jarrad has a custom build on his LGT and he's at 450 awhp. his set up would cost about $8K-$10K including the tuning most likely. I spoke with him a little about what i could do to get me into 350 awhp mark on my 5EAT.

also, keep in mind, a 5EAT will also consistently read about 20 awhp LESS than a 5MT on the dyno. so though it may read lower than it's 5MT counterpart, on the street it's still right there with the MT. however, like i said before, you gotta do a lot of things to the car to beef it up. 5MT is easier to build, but having one of the few heavily modded 5EATs has uniqueness.

i can't tell you how much i've spent on my road to 12's however, i can say most everything i've done has been on a budget, used parts at great deals, trading for parts and services as well as maintaining and installing those parts. it's NOT cheap.
