Default Pirates of the Bearibbean Road Rally July 14

The Pirates of the Bearibbean Road Rally will take place July 14th, 2007 in the Eagle River/Peters Creek areas. The rallymasters are Jake Engstrom and Jeff Lynn. We are very excited as it is the first time the rallymasters have written a rally in the area. The course has been set and youíll have a good drive whether rain or shine. The roads used on the rally will be paved (or rolled recycled asphalt), so bring that nice car or family car or SUV. This is a non-speed event that challenges course following and accuracy. Please take time to download the registration/tech form and inspect your vehicle and have the form filled out prior to arriving. Youíll find the form at alaskascca.com in the Rally section, then click Downloads.
We will meet at 12:30pm at the white UAA building on Eagle River Road near Artillery Road. The entry fee will be $20 per team for SCCA members and $30 per team for non-members. All are welcome. We would like to pre-register as many teams as possible ahead of time so plans can be made for behind the scenes needs. Please call the regionís phone 243-2122 or 227-1197 to pre-register by July 12th. There will be onsite registration to complete the registration process, but please call if you plan on coming! If there are minors under the age of 18 there will be a minor waiver form to be filled out. If you donít have a partner come anyway, we can pair you up with another person without a partner or ride along with another team.
Do get a head start by downloading the Road Rally General Info in the same Rally download section as above and read through them BEFORE coming to the rally. There will be a very brief school of rallying before the rally, so if you are clueless on TSD rallying do not be tardy as it will be VERY beneficial.

OK, Trying to get a head count so help me out if i'm missing people or adding others that are not competing:

Jason/Kate
Jo/Becca
Jamie/Tracy
Cheryl/Bill
Speter/Robbie
Mike/Kevin
Oder boys
Endy/freind maybe

more to come???......

We'll be there, perhaps in my car this time.

Maybe I'd be better as the "foot".

Are you going to be at the AutoX july 6-8? If so we can get you a waiver for the kiddos.

PM wrcRS (Clint), he's our local Chief of Waivers, and would be able to get it taken care of.

I'm looking for a few checkpoint workers. Let me know if you can help. I hate to ask or pull from a pool of possible entrants, but workers are needed.

Speter and I will be there, probably in his CRX, unless the del Sol gets finished first. Either way, I'll be Foot, he'll be Brain (as usual). Rep'n the H-badge!

Rallymaster Jake, you said Ms. and Mr. Adolf had agreed to serve the Region and there are you and your RRSS too. I can try to wrangle up some members who have "offered" to help--have you contacted Augustines? How many more do you need? No...I'm not asking how many checkpoints, just how many more workers!

I think 3 more would be great but 2 would probly due. I did not ask the Augustine's yet and Adolfs declined my invitation to help. I can't remember who offered to help. I need to make some calls real soon, but I'm really busy with calcs before I hand off the route for some one to precheck. I may have Jeff precheck the rally unless someone "needs" the points, or can't make the rally to do it instead. Amanda I might have precheck, but I'm trying to pursuade her to run.

well, i will not be able to help out due to being committed to the camp event. however if one of the checkpoints happened to be at the camp event..... then i could easily help with that since i've got to be there from 1pm on.

Man, Jake and Jeff took me and Brenda for a ride throught the first leg of the course and showed use exactly what it was all about. I must say, I was a little turned off by the term 'technical and complicated' at first, but after experiencing this first hand, I must say, this stuff is pretty damn cool. If you like video games that serve a bit of a challenge, then this is the event. No real driving skill required, but it is quite a brain exercise. I was a bit turned off at first hearing that you don't go crazy amounts of speed, but after that trip, it makes me wanna join an event, and I will, just not this one, for I have prior engagements. The way the road rules are, are really cool, once you get the hang of it (takes about 20 minutes), it really starts to become fun, and WOW, I have never seen so many different places in one day, just right around the corner of my very own home, it was incredible!
Those of you guys who think that this is not for you, I would have to say that you should give this one a try, I am pretty sure that most of you will like it.

i found it a realy neat experience. it is pretty fast past to look for the clues and figure out where to go next at certain points but overall if you are always on the look out for the next clue or point at which you need to be it will go smoothly. i think the most difficult part is timing and making sure your odamiter (probably misspelled that)...is at the right numbers cause at some check points you have to reset it. i think it is something i would be willing to try out. it seemed pretty fun. lol just try not to argue too much at each other ;-p

Nice write-up Justin and Brenda. I'm really glad you both enjoyed the evening (although late). Jeff and I really enjoy showing and teaching a sport that we love.

Kemosabe, we should have minor waivers at the event.

All who are coming please download the registration/tech form from the alaskascca.com site and fill out before the event.
