Just wanted to know your opinion on the game. Debating on whether to get this or Forza 2.

Forza 2 is fun, but DiRT is a decidedly less serious get-away-from-reality-for-a-bit-to-slide-around-in-the-mud game that scratches the rally itch that Rallisport Challenge 2 left on the old XBox.

is dirt the type of game that you get to upgrade your rally car? Like NFS or is it just a "win the car, and drive" type?

Not much in terms of upgrading other than preset paint jobs, but you can make adjustments to the car (suspension, tires, etc)

I would spend the money on Forza 2...I've enjoyed that game since it came out and the multiplay is outstanding.

I pre-ordered Dirt after playing the demo, but I was very disappointed w/ the final product. Don't get me wrong...it looks great and can be a very fun game, but I prefer to race w/ other people in multiplay and the multiplay for Dirt falls short of any expectations. You can only play the rally or hill climb mode in multi and even then the way it's presented is you are the only car on the course and you just see a leaderboard of the other people that are racing and the position changes. Very weak IMHO!

Forza 2 will not disappoint, but if you dont care about playing other people in Dirt (Live or split screen) then it's a fun title...I'll sell you mine for $40 if you want it (only played once)

I played only the demo and thought it really sucked. The graphics are awesome, but the physics suck. Someone else had noted that it "feels" like the car rotates on a center point and sure enough the control scheme feels like the car is pivoting on a center axis. It really cheapens the driving experience.

being a rally driver i find dirt doesn't compare to rbr in terms of realism, but it doesn't really detract from the fun as long as you see it as an arcade style racer. the car stops on a dime on any surface but that just means you have to drive super ridiculous...which is in turn fun. i have both forza and dirt but i tend to play dirt more

i've played both, forza is fun, if you are into the modding of the cars. as mentioned you dont mod the cars, but you can tune them. it is the difference of simulator vs arcade. dirt is fun as hell. and there are different rally types: cars, buggies, truck, semis, ?trash trucks? i dont remember what they are called, they are very large vehicles....we call them buffaloes, because it resembles a herd of buffaloes stampeding.

More like elaborating on what you said rather than repeating...since your comments were somewhat void of detail. Plus I don't really recommend buying Dirt, unless someone doesn't care about multiplayer or realistic physics.

Also, I really didn't bother reading everyone else's review since I wasn't soliciting for them to begin with. I was mainly offering my take since that was what was being asked via the thread title.

Oh ya...my copy is still for sale if anyone wants it. Not that I'm doing a good job selling it.

i played forza 1 and it seemed like it was missing something. I may just be comparing it to Gran Turismo, which it obviously wasn't. Would you say Forza 2 is close to G.T.?
