Unrelated topic: do you still keep a sellable bottles of torco at the Dimond clearwire kiosk? Can I have my son swing by and pick some up for me, since is in Anch more often than I am? If you want me to call first, please PM a contact number. Thanks.

as soon as someone figures out how to unlock it, any GSM based carrier can use it.. so its a race to see what happens first lol AT&T or unlocking capabilities.

if you read my vendor thread for May/June I am able to get unlocked iphones. you can use the phone functions itself, however most of the other nice features (and why someone would spend the $$$) are web based, not software based. that means that unless ATT sees you as a customer, you will not be able to use all your functions and features.

Is it me, or didnt Dobson buy out AT&T three years ago? I remember my first cell plan here in Anchorage was with them.

I really hate cell one, I'll be glad to see them go.

Cellular One traded the AK market for part of their CA market to AT&T about 4 or 5 years ago. this is an entirely DIFFERENT AT&T from before, so we are not sure what to expect... I'll post up more info soon.

ah that sucks. guess if you REALLLLLY want it even tho some functions will not work, unlocked is okay

I personally do not see the need of the iphone if you cannot use all of the features.. Its like buying a ferrari to drive down your 20' drive way to get the mail and back...

for some people, it doesn't matter. they want it because it is the latest and greatest and because... they can and you can't. it's new and they want it, regardless of price or function. it's the reason why there are still long ass lines for DQ just to get a stupid blizzard.

This is what Dobson emailed me earlier this week regarding the buy out:

Customer Q & A

Q – What does this change mean to me, and how will I be affected?

A – AT&T’s acquisition of Cellular One means that, after the completion of the sale, Cellular One’s network, stores, and operations become a part of AT&T, and Cellular One customers become AT&T customers. Many of the questions customers have about new phones, products and services will be addressed by AT&T after the transaction is complete. Until then, Cellular One is the same company and will continue to work diligently to provide you with great networks, customer service, and products.

Q – When will the change take place?

A – While it is possible to close the transaction by the end of 2007, it is likely to close sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

Q – Is there a change in where I send my payment or who I make the check out to?

A – There is no change to where you send your payment. After the acquisition is completed, AT&T will notify you of any changes to where you send your payment and when to start addressing your check to AT&T.

Q – Will I have to change my phone or phone number?

A – Customers will not need to change their phones or phone numbers as part of this change. AT&T and Cellular One both use the same phone technology, and our customers have been roaming on the AT&T network for years. If there are any software updates for your handset, AT&T will notify you if there is anything you need to do to have the latest software.

Q – Will AT&T honor my contract, or will this change allow me to get out of my contract?

A – Prior to the close there will be no change regarding your current contract and terms and conditions. If there is any change after close, you will be notified by AT&T of the changes and of what options are available to you.

Q – Will AT&T change my rate plan?

A – AT&T has not shared with us their plans for any changes to rate plans. After the acquisition is completed, AT&T will notify you if there is any change to the terms, conditions, or rate plans offered, and whether that has any implications to your contract.

Q – Will they be closing any stores in my area?

A – We are not aware of AT&T’s plans related to closing store locations. After the acquisition is completed, AT&T will be working to change all the stores to the AT&T name.

Q – Will I be able to get an iPhone, and if so, when?

A - After the deal is closed, AT&T will transition to their systems, processes, and inventory. They have not disclosed to us yet how long that will take or when customers will be able to purchase the iPhone or other phones carried by AT&T.

Q – When will I be able to get some of AT&T’s services currently not offered by Cellular One such as UMTS, location based services (GPS), Ring Back Tones, International roaming, and Push 2 Talk?

A - AT&T will be providing more information on new products after the acquisition is completed.

Q – I had AT&T before and was not happy with them, why should I stay with them after the acquisition is completed?

A –AT&T Mobility is a different company with a different leadership team than the AT&T Wireless that previously offered wireless service a few years ago. The current AT&T has the lowest dropped calls of any wireless provider, provides customers with excellent service and products, and is the leader in the wireless industry in the United States.

and yes, just PM me when he's coming to town and how many. new pricing is now in effect: $21/bottle for members if i provide the bottle. I usually only keep a few bottles at the kiosk, but if you let me know ahead of time when and how many, I will have some set aside for you.

Yeah, more like

"Oh crap, Hope Reeve just e-mailed me about the antenna in Denali. Quick, make a good excuse and send it before she asks again, that woman is crazy!"
