I have a car that is finally going to have all the parts on it but I have fallen out with the installer/tuner and have few other options locally. After reviewing the enginuity.org and the openecu.org I feel i am more than up to changing the maps and going through the tuning process but I want a Semi Custom base map to start with and a helping hand as I tune.

Not to be competitive with 06rexwagon, but I provide base maps as well. I am working with Dkan at the moment.

Check out what I did on my lunch break. This an an RS with a GC swap. The lower of the two pulls was on a map that an un named shop in Cali did for him. I didn't touch the boost and actually went richer (11.1vs 11.3) on the a/f.

Oh and it was 95F on 91 octane.

so it made more power at 11.1 because you were able to run more timing? I am just curious to see how u made more power without touching boost, thats a huge increase in power from not touching the boost!

Unless that engine has AVCS (which I doubt), then it was most likely through timing.

No AVCS on that motor. The previous tune was just THAT bad. The timing and fueling tables were only scaled to 6800 rpm on a car that redlines at 8200. There were some really flat areas in the timing table as well. And yes, by adding some fuel I was able to add timing but I got within 3hp of the final run above at the old 11.3 a/f with timing alone. Once I found the edge of where timing would be accepted by the car I added fuel and the car never pulled a single degree.

you are the first person on here that I have seen say good things about tuning. Like you know what you are talking about and are trying to help. The other people SOUND like they know what they are doing but are so cocky about it you don't trust them. You are one of the true friendly tuners.

I think there are a lot of knowledgeable people here and I've learned a lot on the forums. That being said, the people you are talking about are exactly the reason I started tuning.

yes there are some good tuners on these forums. They are hard to come by these days though. Everyone wants money and that's what it seems to take to get some of them to help. That's why I call you the friendly tuner.

Same here. Plus I could never afford to buy mods and pay for dyno time. So I learned..

Nice work! I have found that these engines seem to be more sensitive to timing than AFR. Especially on pump fuels, I tried leaning out to 11.2 on the local 92 octane but found I could make more power at 10.8.
