I've seen the full bra on a red my01 and it looked like ass... i'd imagine the hood deflector would look better but not great... what about the 3m clearbra stuff? I've only ever seen the hood deflector on a black RS...

The ones I've seen look fine. It matches the front end real well. We've had small problems with the one on our Forester though. It only attaches with two bolts that are two close to the center, and then the ends slide into two clips. A good wind or the carwash air dryer blows the ends right out and I keep having to put them back in. It's a crappy design.

I would go with the plastic one over the vinyl. Heck, I AM going with the plastic over the vinyl! I had the vinyl bra on from December till about early March, then I replaced it with the plastic one. Looks better, IMHO, and I'm not worried about grit getting under it and wrecking our already weak paint.

This might sound strange, but I think the color of the car matters alot with how good a bra or hood deflector,

Black - Good
RBP and BRP - Good
Red - Average
Green - Average
White - Bad

etc. But this is wholy my opinion, and I know I am crazy, so I'm sure you guys have other opinions. Out with em!

No pic to prove it, but the hood deflectors look good on just about any color.
If you decide to go with a bra....DON'T GET THE FULL ONE!

dougwendel--sugar is a vendor who frequently posts on this board in the private and vendor classifieds. she's in parts sales at Troncalli Subaru, Roswell Georgia. She is an EXCEPTIONAL source for any OEM parts and also can get alot of aftermarket and some STi parts and accessories. She also offers free shipping on pretty much everything. 800.334.4717, ask for Lisa in parts.

Whatever you do, don't get a vinyl bra. Dust, dirt, and pebbles will get caught underneath it. As you drive around the bra shifts and vibrates slightly and all those particles act like sandpaper. It'll end up causing as much or more damage than it prevented.

Your trunk monkey can insatall it in 10 min, if you let him out.

I have one. I think it looks pretty damn good. Especially with my light bar and pair of HELLA 500.

Anyone thought about painting it to mathc the car?

BryanW,

I had a hood deflector that did the same thing - popped loose from the hood clips. I finally took it back and got a new one, which hasn't ever popped loose from the clips. I think maybe the tolerances on the holes aren't quite right, on some, and the deflector gets torqued. If you unclip the ends, the clip should be sitting right where it would be, if it were clipped.

You might try loosening the two bolts in the center, and make sure it moves freely, then clip the ends before you tighten the bolts.

As for the carwash thing, I've avoided them since I installed the deflector. With the loose ends, I'm afraid it would just get snagged and snap off.
