The SPT is simply a sound mod. There is no performance gains that you will notice. You will hear the BPV A LOT. I noticed with mine there was a ever so slight loss of low-end (from a stop) likely due to the sucking of hot air from around the engine bay. The heat shield may help this (although I have it- must be really bad without it!), but then again it is mostly an overprice piece of crappy sheet metal.

Save you money. Do not buy the intake/heat shield unless you get it for a really low price or something. Really not worth it. At first it was sort of fun to hear the intake, but now it is just annoying! Whatever you do, don't sell your stock setup, because you may very well go back to it.

I have no knowledge of the K&N and therefore won't speculate or comment on it. I have heard that there are fairly good drop-ins out there.

Why do you want an intake?

I hope it isn't for power.

Do a search for silencer delete. Thats better.

...12 hp on a cotton candy pie in the sky dyno.

Anyone who puts an intake of any kind on their stock turbo Subaru is wasting their money. Do the silencer delete, seal the air box to the hole in the fender and leave the snorkel to continue to blow cold air into the fender.

My friend's SPT fell off on a dirt drive and within minutes his motor was toast. He put it on with the new motor and it did the same thing. He also found it very hard to tune around. Once he went back to the stock airbox, he said it made great power. It was a 2.5L and some VF turbo.

Stock intake FTW.

More like you have a ton of worthless posts such as this.

OP, get the intake, enjoy. Kuper, no need for me to elaborate, just search. Draw your own conclusion. I've run a short ram before. With ambient temps north of 90, you'll begin to see why the short ram sux.
