Default What game is better? The latest Gran Turismo, or latest Forza?

In all regards, overall, which game could you see yourself playing more so than the other, and why?

GT is closer to a sim than forza

but a lot of people will tell you that it's not even close to a sim so you really might as well be playing forza.

i like GT personally. much more authenticism and real-world detail imo.

edit: although to me, the "latest GT" is for PS2 because i've never even SEEN a ps3 in person

There's one thing that kills F2 for me and that's lack of music during the races. What were they thinking!?

neither game is a "sim" play gtr2 if you want a sim.

Forza has the best handling physics of the two console games (xbox 360 vs ps2). GT4 sucks hard core. Try playing gt4 after playing forza 1 or 2 and try to tell me you thought it was better.

A friend pointed out that Forza's road surface is like driving on ice - its too smooth. I do recall playing gtr2 and feeling the bumps and what not in the braking zones from where cars have torn up the track.

I'm a big fan of Forza 2 mainly because of powertrain swaps.

It's pretty easy to turn the music off in GT.

While the graphics and sound are way better in Forza, the driving characteristics and range of adjustability just aren't there like they are in GT4. Although, stuff like different brands of sticky tires is damn cool. I did notice the smoothness of the Nurburgring, though......and that ain't right.

Overall, I'd probably play Forza 2 more, simply because it has Porsches and Ferarris.

GT.

I have many memories attached to that game, so it just does it for me.

Forza is much closer to a sim than GT, but neither is on par with something like GTR or rFactor. The sheer fact that you can just pinball off of opposing cars in GT puts it squarely into the "arcade" category, IMHO.

And yeah, "the latest" Gran Turismo game is what... 3 years old now?

GT series has better graphics, but FM2 has more realistic crash physics which can also affect handling of the car and shows crash damage plus in sim mode, crash damage to your car gets deducted from your total earnings.

I think that sums it up

GTR2. Period. Gran Turismo & Forza 2 are barely better than NFS Underground.

in my limited forza experience, i just felt like the whole thing was too "polished.." the cars were too shiny, the tracks were too smooth, the handling was too "good" i would call forza more of an arcade game than GT..

Are you sure you're playing the same game? Yeah the cars look too shiny, but I wouldn't deem the handling "too good". The Elise and Exige are perhaps unrealistically sticky, but most of the cars feel pretty much like they should.

I don't see how things can get more arcade-y than pinballing in GT though.

limited experience.. limited. i've probably logged 400 hours playing various Gran Turismo games and myabe 1 hour playing forza.. i jus' didn't like it

and to make GT a realistic driving experience, you don't pinball off other cars. i dunno, what GT lacks in damage physics, i tend to compensate for by driving like it's my own car

Yeah but what do you do in online games where other people don't drive like it's their own car?

OH YEAH! That's right! No online multiplayer

The AI doesn't drive like it's their own car either. In fact, the AI doesn't seem to realize you exist. They just punt you around everywhere.

Thats the beauty of Forza 2 vs GT4-5-6-7

The AI in Forza 2 has intelligence. Set their difficulty to hard, and you will have a nice challenge awaiting for you at the track.

Lack of poll FTL

I think the engine on both games is pretty close in regards to sims. I like the telemetry in Forza better for tuning purposes. As for replay, Forza HANDS DOWN with the online multiplayer aspect. The only reason I went out and bought an XBOX 360.

Sony disappoints once again with the lack of online GT play.
