Default Radiators

I have been starting to hear how the stock subbie radiators start to crap out after 2 -3 years. Aluminum bodys but cap them with plastic. So they weaken and start to leak. Any truth in this? And if so a good replacement for them?
*No Dan I will not put in the Gwizz1000 turbo at that time. Untill I can truly make the brick fly faster than 150. No point.
Back on topic. A better mouse trap for the cooling system please.
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

Yes it can happen. The next day after I did my swap, my radiator seperated. Get a Koyo, they are decently priced. As well as help keep your temps down.

It took 4 years for my 01 radiator to crap out. Small leak it wouldn't pass a preasure test, but I couldn't find the leak until I took it all the way out and watched it. I looked at a few different radiators. I got a Koyo because it was about middle of the road as far as price goes.

Koyo is the shizz I am sure Rick, Kirill and the other kid who works there can hook you up with a snazzy set up.

I would just use the stock radiator hoses, but upgrade the core, and get a low temp thermo...

It's starting to seep at the gasket on top. So in a preventive way I would say I would like to replace it befor it is not OK.

Just admit it Steve, you are trying to justify modding your car to the wifey. As subtle as can be.

if that's the case you need a new turbo.... Yours is prone to cracking which can cause you to burn up your engine

helmut, if you end up getting a new radiator we have a customer with an 02 WRX that needs a stock wrx or sti radiator.... drop me a line or call me at the shop if you do end up wanting to get rid of it.

on a side note my '93 impreza radiator was still going strong until last summer when i swapped it out. i did have it cleaned (reamed) out about 4 years ago though so maybe that helped keep it going.
