Default Thinking of trading in my 04 STI for 04 Z06

I am thinking of trading in my 04 STI for a used 04 ZO6, and need some opinions, what better place to get them the here.

My 04 STI
WRB, 21k miles, GT30R, FMIC, SMC Alky/H20 injection, Pro tunned (~400whp), Tein SSP Coilovers, currently sporting 18x9.5 Rays w/ 275 tires.

The 04 Z06
Red, 1500 miles, red/black interior, totally stock.

My insurance would only go up $30 ever 6 months.

I have a DD (99 Jeep GC) so don't need to drive it year around.

Fire away people.

depends on what you're looking to do- Is the sti boring you? Are you planning on modding the c5 z06 much?

Side note, my buddy just got a 06 z06 with 1500 miles Sunday. It's scarey fast & he's already planning on modding. Unbelievable how hard that thing pulls in any gear at any time.

pretty easy choice in my opinion...Corvette or a Subaru? hmmm. The sube is plenty capable and fast with all those mods Im sure but it will never look, feel, and attract the attention that a z-06 will.

If I trade it the wheels with spacers (5mm on front) will be for sale. Will seperate from tires if don't want the tires.

Why trade. Well I want to do more to my Suby, but am at the point where it gets really really expensive. I figure the motor and heads that I want along with a bigger turbo, injectors and dual fuel pump set up will cost me around 15k +, plus I am still on the stock clutch so there is another 500-1500.

I do like my car, but have had it for 3 1/2 years, and just have the itch for something different.

Eventually I would probably put a Procharger on the Z06, but I drove it today, put it sideways with a big fat grin so I would wait till that power seems not enough for me (next spring).

How much will it cost me, about 15k, about the same as doing the next step of upgrades to the STI.

BTW I know I have $ in the STI I will never get out, but for me it is about the modding and not making the car worth more.

I actually got to drive just a regular Vette the other day. MY03 with a 6spd gearbox. Having driven both cars, go get the Z06. Now.

I had an '03 Z06 before my STi.
I sold my Z06 to build a new house and bought the STi as a daily driver.
Seeing as you already have a daily driver GET THE Z06 NOW!!!!!
1500 miles? GET IT NOW!!!!!

Wheels are +40 offset iirc maybe 42, will have to look them up tonight. Spacer is needed to clear brakes on front. Also have hubcentric rings. There is no vibration at least to 120+ (have not gone faster since install).

I will probably do it, have to talk to the wife, since I am not adding a car she should be ok.

my dad traded in his z06 for a cts-v thinking he could get the best of both worlds (a DD with solid performance that would be comfortable on long trips). he's regretting it and is looking to dump the cts-v for another vette.

fwiw, i drove the cts-v on a 200 mile trip and wasn't blown away by it. it was fast, but didn't feel as quick as the STI. the clutch was sloppy and the gear box felt awkward all relative to my car.

get the vette! the Z06 was a blast

The Z06 is way better than an STI as a daily driver too!
