Post what is the dealer going to say to me if i take my car in with the intake on?

my local dealer isn't too happy about mods. subaru city in e-town is the same. should i just leave my intake on to see what they say or should i just put it back to stock?

Don't worry about it, it'll be fine. I've had my performance stuff on everytime I go in.

Angry

Get this!

I go in to Subaru City today to ask about 15" steel rims. He gives me some rape & pillage price and then I start to ask about if they will bring in STi parts, specifically the STi 60mm rear exhasut section.

He tells me that they would have to get the parts out of the US and any STi part on a Canadian car will void the warranty!?!?!?! I almost asked the guy if he was finished fist phuking me. I couldn't believe they would actually say that an STi part will void a Subaru warranty.

I think I'm going to start working with Specialty ou of N.Vancouver if this is the way they are going to treat me in Edmonton. What a bunch of [self-editing temporarily engaged].

Roland, your call dude! I guess these dealerships have been selling to the 50+ crowd for so long, they probably think that huge chrome bumpers and large fins on a yaght sized car are only a couple model years ago.

Subaru of Calgary isn't the most mod friendly dealership in the world, but they've never given me any grief about anything I have done to my car (so far, at any rate).

markus. i feel your pain. about a month ago when i got my K&N airfilter i called subaru city to see if it would void my warranty and they siad yes. They kept telling me i'm going to screw up my maf sensor. did i mention i have a MY00? i didn't care. put it on the next day. i figure i can put the stock airfilter back in in like 5 mins. but intake is a different story. so far jack, tulit, and direwlf siad it should be ok. but they all live in calgary. e-town quys do you take your cars in with mods? and how do they react to it

Markus, its true. STi parts have no warranty. I doubt they can void the warranty on the whole car though. But who knows. We don't have the same warranty protection rights as they do in the US. I remember Jack was looking into this. Did you ever find anything?

Subaru of Calgary is pretty lame too. They want to void my warranty because I don't have them service the car (im not paying $300 for them to change the oil and "check the brakes")

Actually, no manufacturer is legally allowed to void the warranty just b/c you don't go to get servicing done there (at the dealership).
According to consumer protection laws, as long as you can provide reciepts for service done on your car you will be fine (ie. purchases for oil etc).

Unless they can prove it's your neglect etc, causing damage to your car, they don't have anything on you and must honor your warranty.

The guys @ SOC (Subaru Of Calgary) are getting more modification friendly (I've been referring lots of performance stuff to get done there).

Markus - I know what you mean,it's quite pathetic, even some Honda dealerships are like "yeah it will void your warranty if you don't get the "factory" performance parts" yeah right, that's a bunch of crap!

Well, from the Honda end, I know that Silverhill Acura in calgary will warranty stuff for you. When I was looking for a car, I went in there looking at an integra gs-r. The salesman said that they had a list of parts that were "approved" but that they would not void your warranty.

Hey Marcus,

That's funny/unfortunate. Remember the day I saw you at the dealership? I had asked some similar questions and I couldn't help myself from laughing too. I asked how much the US front bumper would cost and after about 10min of "cost estimating" he came up with ~1900Can... I thought whoa...pretty expensive then he clarified that it would actually come out to WELL OVER $2000Can to have painted and installed, I just about gagged.

I could get it from subaruparts.com and have it painted and installed for a 1000bux and could have it done 3 weeks before those ingnoramusus' could have it finished. Then the guy had the nerve to tell me that about ten or so guys in the city have already done this and "boy does it look good..."

What a shame... Thank god I never have to go back there now that I am done my 12K service. No personal offense to anyone working at subecity but that has to be the WORST dealership I have ever been in!

Love my sube tho'

Sorry had to rant.

It is my experience that if it is not too much work I would remove any mods before taking it to the dealership... these guys get offended if you change your own oil!!!

Good Luck

Thumbs down

They were called Edmonton Subaru, but they went bankrupt about 4.5 years ago.

They screwed me for about $800 in rental fees when I was getting warranty work done on my car. SOC wouldn't cover the cost, and by the time everyone else who was owed money was finished with it, I was left owing the rental company mucho bucks.

So I think the worse Subie dealer in Canada will be E-town.

Any comments?
