Why didn't they give you the MSRP of $34,995?

It's the only game in town and they don't want to seem to budge on the price.

Ya, $34,995 as suggested on the subaru.ca web site. Most towns only have a single subie dealer. Does mean they have to raise the price. I'd ask why if I was you.

Hello,

I have already put a deposit to a Subaru Dealership with $1000 CDN.

The price for the car is MSRP: $35000 CDN., It is a WR Blue one. First in the lane for that dealership.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Thanks,

John Liang

I thought no dealer (at least in Canada) was allowed to mark up beyond MSRP? or is that just in Ontario? Or is that not the case at all? Personally, I do think it's a great car for the money but at $34,995 I'm looking for a power roof so that I can live with the bad plastic interior and lack of a full gauge pack. Is it fair to compare the interior to an A4 - they're both the same price but the A4 interior is really nice. Anyway - I'm complaining now but will probably suck it in and end up buying the WRX.

Cheers,
P.L. Toronto, Ont

Question

Scoobie Newbie,

Do you presently own a G60?

If you do, we have a mutual friend ==> AJR!

So what you're saying is you are effectively paying $37,495 minus all the misc stuff? That's ~$2k over the MSRP which is ridiculous!

However, I have to remember that the MSRP is ~$35k but that price usually restricts you to one colour... namely white, for the Winnipeg Subaru anyways... They then usually charge an extra ~$1k for the other colour choices so since you got Sedona Red, you got hit with the paint charge.

However, from what you're telling us, they are keeping your 1k deposit and not crediting it towards the purchase of your car which to me, is complete BS. I realize they are the only Subaru dealers in town (at least they are now when the Marion dealer went under) but it seems that they are really milking this opportunity to get as much profit as they can. When my g/f got her MY00 Silverthorn RS, we got paint for free. At that time, I spoke to the former GM who had been running that dealership for years and had plenty of his relatives working there. He was a cool guy and a big rotary nut. He was the one who gave and offered us the free paint as well as a free change from the coupe wing to the sedan wing if we so desired. My g/f is short and we were worried that the coupe wing would interfere with her rear vision too much. Anyways, they were nice and though they wouldn't budge on the price, they did give us a few things free. His wife even let us test drive the car for nearly an hour by ourselves with no hassle whatsoever.

Well, I hate to say it but it sounds like they are milking this WRX chance. I remember talking to Ron before about putting a deposit down and we agreed that the deposit would be put against my purchase at the MSRP. Now it seems they have decided to not credit it towards the MSRP. Maybe it's the new GM direction or something but what they are doing doesn't encourage me.

Besides... I'm not too enthused with their service dept over at Toyota...

OH! He's in the same car club as me. How do you know Tony? Just me him this year. I know he probably doesn't want me to sell the G60 for the WRX.

You can see his car here:

ZuWRX,

I've known Tony for a few years now. I met him through my travels at work and we've just become good friends. In fact, Tony, myself, and a few other "Peggers are going to Montreal this year for the F1.

Tony consulted me before he bought the Corrado becasue he couldn't make up his mind on the G60 or the VR6. I told him to go with the VR6 but he just wouldn't listen

Next time I'm in Winnipeg, we'll have to get together.

Cheers,
MB

I think you need more dealers in your 'hood!

The dealers here in Toronto are all selling the car for MSRP. That is the nice thing about competition!

I have not heard of anyone getting better than MSRP because I am sure Subaru wil sell every single one they can get there hands on. The dealer here told me that Subaru has 7.8% financing for Impreza purchase, I think he said lease was 8.8%

WRX Fan: Were you able to get yours for MSRP? Was there even any haggling?

markus: for sure we'll get together. After my G60, I don't know if I'd want a VR6 for a corrado. ( I do have a Jetta VR6 as well) The G60 is more raw and fun.

Try checking out Autobytel.ca. When I was looking for my RS, I could have saved about $2400 getting one from Calgary, except it was white and I wanted blue. The savings was def. worth a roadtrip to Calgary.

Most people I have talked to who have bought the car have paid MSRP.

I doubt at the end of the model year there will be any deals, I think the car is going to be very popular. Especially when people figure out what it is all about and how bloody fast the REX is!

P.S. Saw one again (blue sedan) this morning!
