Default serious question about hoods BG/BK/BD or BE/BH

ok, i'm not selling anything, but this is more of a feeler.

I may have a source for either carbon fiber or fiberglass BE/BG hoods. how much would you be willing to pay and how many would be interested. please just dont say "i want one". if this happens you'll be required to pay at least 1/2 of total cost as a deposit. cause ya know, we'll have to cover our nasioc vendor fee's.

oh yeah, do you want a scoop or non-scoop?

i saw couple website selling the BE bonnet (carbon fiber with scoop) for about $500....

if i can get it for $300 included shipping and handling, i would buy it.

well it would be molded off a 97-99 LGT/Outback hood with a scoop. but that hood fits any legacy 95+. you're looking at saving close to 30lbs on a lighter weight hood.

If you could mold a Carbon one like my current hood (with the 2003 JDM STI hoodscoop), I would um, have to pee myself I'd be so excited.

Count me in, preferably for CF. I would obviously need to see some samples of this person's/shop's work so I could see that they know what the hell they're doing.

I'd be more than happy to drive down there if they were willing to use my hood as a model for the mold.

Yeah, but you have a big, gaping, unnecessarily tall hoodscoop

ok, so who would rather have a 3rd gen hood which came with a scoop, or a lightweight turbo baja hood for the 4th gens?

I'm confused by this last post...there is no 4th gen Baja Turbo.

I want, badly, a BE/BH hood that has a scoop. Weight is one thing I'm not too concerned about, but if I could get it lighter, I'd take it. I'd be surprised if you couldn't find ten of us who'd seriously consider it. Just look at the Gallery thread...

HAHAHA... It's only funny because I had that hood made for my rally car to facilitate more airflow on stage.

Yeah, i would probably be interested (if the quality of work was awesome) for a lightweight Baja hood. I was planning on buying a baja hood anyways so if I could get one that's a little lighter that would be cool.

ok so there are two options here...

#1 - fab a light weight hood from a 97-99 LGT w/scoop. this will fit any legacy 95-99.

#2 - fab a light weight hood from a turbo baja that will fit any legacy 2000-04 and non turbo baja's.

these would be made local in portland, oregon.

The thing you have to consider here is that ANY 95-99 Legacy can already get a hood, with scoop, from any Outback or GT in a salvage yard or whatever. There have to be dozens of these just sitting around.

00-04 owners have only the Baja Turbo to use, apart from trying to get an actual B4 hood from Japan (steel or aluminum, flip a coin). You're more likely to win a lottery than to find one of those, in tact, in a salvage yard.

We can, of course, buy all of the parts for the Baja Turbo...

I dunno. If the price is reasonable, quality is good to excellent, and it's lighter, you'll sell them.

I hope this gets enough attention from either camp, but I have a suspicion that the BE/BH crowd is going to be more interested. Sorry Pat, if that's the case.

I'd really need an idea on price for a BG, but would be interested if it was ~500 or less. I'ts my DD, I'm putting money into the STi, so I can't do an $800 hood that delaminates like the last, ill-fated GB.

i only started with the BG's cause i knew my hood was like gazillion lbs. but let me talk with my contacts and see if this can move forward. at this point i'm leaning towards the baja turbo hoods, seems like more of a market.
