Default House votes to pull troops by April.

Hey guys, figured we could get a friendly discussion going. What do you guys thing about the House's vote to pull troops. If it does not get vetoed, they are supposed to start pulling them in 120 days and be totally out by April.

Of course every one wants the troops back but that is not the issue.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19723307/

Any thoughts?

I don't know, it is almost like feeding that man-trap in the "little shop of horrors" blood. If it doesn't get it after feeding so much, it will start to take it on it's own. So, if we pull our troops out.. does that mean havok will start roaming around?

BTW, there is nothing friendly about war.

I think it would be a good idea to pull them out. This war tends to mimic Vietnam in the respect that the general populous of America is not exactly sure whom or what we are fighting. "War on terror" Alright good, but who is the terror, at the present it appears anyone not agreeing or looking shady (yes, a gross over-generalization) As of right now I have not noticed much relinquishment of terror in areas we are supoosedly freeing. from the news organizations it appears the infighting is still as bad as it was before we arrived.

One Big thing of note is the re-grouping of al-qaeda. Apparently according to CNN they now have in place 3/4 the necessary items to wage anothe attack on the US. This of course raises to very important and large questions. 1) If true... then what exactly have our forces accomplished overseas? and 2) how has the more stringent homeland security laws stopped the re-grouping?

Sadly this will just be veto'd by POTUS.

As AKSubie said, this war is mimicking Vietnam in respect to its popular support.

I'm lucky in a way. I'm in the Air Force and my specific job doesn't particularly allow me to have opinions on such items.

They already have a civil war going. It's just that there are no clear boundaries.

I doubt this will go anywhere. Bush will veto it.

I really don't think anyone except a choice few on here should even comment on the situation in iraq.

I do not think it is time to come home. If we come home now, not only will we lose the war, but alot of other countries are going to take it as a weakness. The middle east will become hell.

Based on history, civil war did not just begin. It started long before the US was formed and it will live long beyond our time.

I say bring them home, there really is no winning in war, only death.

With respect to those who may not agree with me, strength is not measured by your physical might.

Freedom of speech? Friends and family serving? Tax money used on the war? A citizen caring about his/her country and what it does?

America is already looked at by most of the world as a bunch of morons. Why not be a bunch of weak morons?

This thread, and the war, will come to no desirable end.

Default police

I don't think that "soldiers" should be playing the role of "police" in a war(war?). Our troops are being criminalized over political agenda, not to mention having there hands tied in combat. Bring them home OR untie their hands so victory can be attained.

Well, I will agree with Zach to a point. NO ONE besides those already over there or serving over there REALLY know what its like. That however, is not to say we dont know anything. Many here are friends with, or have family in the military. I would hazard a guess with the populous of Anchorage the rate of military friends to non military personnel is greater than say.... Las Vegas. Therefore, while we have not been in the depths of it, we have been around those that have. Add in the media (yes slanted depending on what they are touting) coverage of it, gives us our opinions. From those I talk to and what I read and hear about, as stated previously we are making but a small dent in a larg civil unrest over there, while a great showmanship for America and its forces, is not showing there is a great BENEFIT to us being there other than slowing the bloodshed. whether we stay or go, I do not forsee a stop to the warring factions without much more loss on BOTH sides, our soldiers and their innocent.

As for an unbiased opinion mike... an opinion, by its very nature, is already biased viewpoint.

THIS IS COMPLETELY TRUE, Im 1 of 2 Radiology Specialists for the airborne brigade. These sorry mutherf...ers over here will, get shot by us, blow thereselves up placing ied's and efp's and then drag there lousy asses to the front gate to come on for medical attention. Its ridiculous, the things that go on over here. These people dont even help theirselves. They need to untie the hands of the soldiers badly. what u guys read in the paper about Trista Maretti, I knew her and a bunch of the other casualties. But in her case she was blown up where she was sleeping by a rocket, mid-day 50 yds. from where i live that destroyed like 20 chu's, which we live in. The only other death from indirect fire was a civilian in which I happened to find and drag out of a bunker and start first aid on him till some doctors did a needle decompression on him, he died on the blackhawk flying to the CSH. There is tons of injuries from these attacks alone, but they fire into the FOB here because they know the soldiers can only do so much. Hell theres a bunch of Iraqi's detained here just for food and air conditioning.

I agree ridestreet84. The best first step to victory is the air force. If it absolutely, positively must be destroyed overnight.. United States Air Force.
