Its a Concept "car"... likely to become production, but I beleive it is still un-named... A rather expensive "Brat" if you ask me...
I doubt it will become a run-away sales leader, like the origional "Outback" Legacy station wagon, or the WRX... but if there is a market out there somewhere for this, I think Subaru will find it... |

I'd buy one if it had low range and was a little cheaper.

Happy New Year I-Clubbers.
This is from the Subaru website. The STX stands for Subaru Truck X-perimental and it is going into production next year. Here's some of the features: 2.5-liter SOHC 4-cylinder boxer engine with Eaton supercharger and Subaru B4 intercooler 230 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm 210 lbs.-ft. of torque @ 4,000 rpm 55.5" bed extends to 76.0" with Subaru-designed Switchback System 8.5 inches minimum ground clearance with low step-in height Heavy-duty 4-wheel independent suspension Full-time All-Wheel Drive Dual-range 5-speed transmission 17" x 7" Enkei wheels 225x55 R 17 Yokohama AVS S/T tires Super-large power fabric sunroof Power rear window for open-air feel Solar Flare orange/Moondust silver paint Roof rack Functional step rails Roof-mounted PIAA off-road lights In-bumper pencil-beam fog lights McIntosh Audio sound system with three amplifiers, seven speakers and 650 watts of total system power ... not to mention very cool looking VU meters. In-bed 110v inverter plus two 12v power outlets Durable Sherwin-Williams ZolatoneŽ bed finish Roof spoiler with built-in CHMSL and cargo bed light Under-bed compartment holds all kinds of stuff, like ice and drinks for tailgate parties. Custom-made exhaust system, including equal-length headers by SVI and Bosal/SVI muffler with single large tailpipe tip Lower body cladding looks cool and fends off rock chips. Pivoting license plate holder keeps plate visible when the tailgate is lowered. Motorcycle-style gas cap B4 performance-style front bucket seats Leather interior Roof-mounted swing-up rear headrests Eight cargo tie-down bars Two lockable rear storage compartments I'll definitely check it out if for nothing else then to get some ideas about supercharging one of my existing rides. Best regards, Dale Sorry - next year is actually this year now . Production starts in the third quarter of 2002.Last edited by Subietonic; 01-02-2002 at 12:11 AM. |

Yeah, I saw the stuff on the subaru site a few months back and they said it WAS coming. I also still have the subaru brochure from the auto show two years ago when it was still just a prototype. It is neat and I'd like to have the engine for my outback. It was basically just a legacy with the roof cut out and some other cool mods. You can look in the bed and see they legacy floor was turned into a truck bed. It made me want to get out my reciprocating saw and see what I could make!?!?! I bet there will be a lot of great new parts available for us when it comes out since it really is just a different version of the legacy...

come on people... this is the prototype version... it will look more subaru-esque when it is released.... though, my prediction is that it will have the H6 rather than teh 2.5L S-C....

Well, I think it is good looking, just not practical for me since I sold a truck to get the covered storage of a station wagon. I also read that the production will have a boosted engine, but couldn't remember if it was the 2.2 turbo or a supercharged 2.5 or what. But yeah, I thought the prod mod would get the h6 at first until I read on subaru's own website...
