Default Your thoughts on a crashed 06-07 Impreza 2.5, buy it?

Ok so I live in Ellington, CT and there is a place down the street that buys crashed and totaled vehicles. There is a beautiful 2006-7 Impreza that just looks like it was in a side crash. It is from NY and it is that deeper blue color. This car has 2,300 miles on it and the guy is looking for $13,500.

I have not spoken with him or talked to him in depth in regards to what has been fixed just yet. This place specializes in fixing Subaru's. I wanted to know what you guys think about the price. I mean I believe its a 2007 with the miles it has on it but I can not tell by looking at it. This car would be for my GF in replace of her current car.

What do you guys think this car should go for? I know it is hard to say not knowing what damage was done or seeing the car. Normally if this type of car was in an accident and fixed how much should it go for?

thanks

Jay

If someone is selling an undamaged car for $13000, how could you even think of paying anywhere close to 13500 for a busted up one?

IMO, that price is high considering what its been through.... I would spend the extra $4,000 and just get a new one (you'd probably get a killer deal considering dealers are trying to dump their 07 stock to make room for the 08's) at least you would have the peace of mind thats its never been trashed, and it has a full warranty.

Seriously, that's high for a totalled car. You don't know what kind of problems it will have either. A friend of mine almost bought a totalled M3. Luckily we got a chance to drive it in the rain and on the highway one night and realized none of the windows sealed properly That did more to knock some sense into him than any of our words could have.

Like linuxguy said, you can get a killer deal on a brand new one AND get financing for it, which is unlikely with a salvage car. Call Brian at Secor Subaru and ask him what he can do for you, he's always helped us out.

I'm agreeing with most of the people here. Unless the car was in a really minor accident and they just needed to, say, replace a door to fix it, it isn't worth it. If you are still rather interested in it, I'd ask for any before pictures of the damage, or receipts for parts that they needed to buy to fix it, or some way to establish a positive idea of what work went into the car to fix it.

Dealers are practically giving away 07's to make room for 08's.

Yup. A brand new '07 can be had for about $15.5K.

Pilgrim has a "new '06 WRX" in their showroom still. It's a black Limited if anyone cares.
