Default 2002 WRX Project Car for sale.

Well, it's been sitting around for way too long now and it's time for it to be gone. I don't want to part out the car, I'd like to sell it all at once. If you want to buy it all and part it out, that's your choice, but I just don't want it sitting around in my garage and hangar anymore. I had big plans for it, but time has flown by and I've moved on.

Specs.

WRB 2002 WRX, clean title, no liens. 42k miles.

Chassis mods:-
Prodrive P1 Wheels (anthracite)
Pirelli PZero Tarmac Rally Tyres
Prodrive front calipers (will probably need an overhaul now)
AP Racing front discs with lightweight alum hats.
Rear brakes are stock.
Complete Group N suspension bushings throughout.
Whiteline rear sway bar.
Front sway bar stock.
Stock dampers on Prodrive springs.
Steel braided brake lines. (rear lines still in the packet)

Engine (not in car) professionally built with the following:-
2.5 Litre STI block, deburred and race prepped.
Lightened and balanced crank
Oliver rods
Custom Wiseco Forged pistons (coated)
Shim under bucket valvetrain
Supertech valves 0.5mm oversize
Extrude honed intake manifold

The engine will need fuel rails and injectors big enough to handle the power you need. I can find out the fuel injectors you need. Perrin fuel rails should be fine though. The engine has been stored for a while, but it's all sealed up and everything looked good when I last looked at it. The engine builder used plenty of assembly lube when they put it together. The engine builder is Payn Technologies. They started with Hondas, but do other stuff now too. They have a rolling road dyno too so you get real world numbers. I'm not sure what the state of play is with the business now. Last I heard was that it was up for sale.

Transmission (also not in car)

6 speed STi with DCCD. This tranny is almost new and has the correct ratio to use the stock WRX rear diff. I do not have the DCCD unit. I have the axles for it as they're the new socket style, and will not work with the older style axles. I also have a driveshaft from an auto trans car. Shifter assembly and new STi shift knob is all included too.

The stock trans is included, but it sounds like it's full of loose nuts and bolts. 1st and second are shot.

The clutch and flywheel might work with this set up, but I'd recommend against it as the clutch probably won't be able to deal with the torque. The flywheel should be fine though. It's basically an STi one, but it's a different brand. I can't remember it's been so long since it went in the car.

Other stuff you need to know....

There is no turbo on the car. The turbo I was running was way to small for the current set up, so I sold it on.

There are no exhaust manifolds. You could use stock manifolds but I junked them a long time ago with the intent of using headers.

There is a Vishnu uppipe with the car, but it won't be any good for this set up. There is no down pipe. There is an almost stock exhaust pipe running back to a Prodrive muffler, but that stock pipe is probably not going to work either.

There is a big fat top mount intercooler from TXS that probably won't be any good either for this set up. My plan was to make a custom intercooler setup that went in the front grill and also performed the function of the cross member at the front where the hood latch is. The intercooler has two water injection nozzles ahead of the throttle body for an aquamist WI system. There is also a stock intercooler.

The car is equipped with an aquamist WI system. This is not a water spray system, but proper water injection. This system monitors fuel injection pulsewidth and modulates water injection according to the amount of fuel going in. In the trunk there's a 12liter STi water tank attached to the seat bulkhead. The pump is mounted in front of the drivers side wheel liner. It's quite a stealthy install if you look under the hood, you don't see much.

Engine management is currently a UTEC. It was tuned by TXS a way back with the water injection, and it was better than race gas. It ran 314hp on 93 octane + water, and used 20% less fuel (none required for cooling). Truly amazing. TXS were worried about how much fuel they were pulling from the mixture as mine was the first water injected car they had seen back in 2003! The UTEC probably won't be much use either for this set up. I'd recommend something with a little more versatility.

I have Imori gauges in a stock centre gauge pod. I didn't really have too much luck with these gauges, so you may want to junk them or try to get new sensors. The sensors for the gauges were notoriously unreliable. When they worked, they were great, but the EGT gauge didn't seem to last very well. I have the stock clock that went in the centre pod area.

I can barely even remember how the car goes together, so if I can think of anything else I have, I'll come back and edit this post.

Please remember I'm not interested in parting this thing out. It's all or nothing. I have over $8k in the engine alone. God knows how much all the other stuff is worth.

Buyer comes and picks up the whole shebang on a flatbed truck or trailer.

As for the price, I'm looking for a 5 figure number. I realise there is a certain amount of unknown when approaching this sort of thing so I'm willing to cut my losses and make someone willing to take this on a good deal. If you go on to complete the project, I'd be very interested in seeing how it all turned out.

For questions regarding the car and any of it's parts (remember I'm NOT parting it out) please post in this thread. That way I don't get repeated questions in my PM box.

Thanks for your interest!

Oops... Yeah.. Car is located in Dearborn, MI. It's seen 1 winter of salt when I first got it, but I always kept it clean as tough as it was. After that first winter, it never saw the salt again.

Oops! Thanks methusela! I put an 'L' on the end of the link didn't I!

BTW.. Anyone who comes to pick it up (hopefully it'll sell) will need a flatbed trailer for the car, and some room for an engine and tranny (pick up bed would be ideal).
