I don't think there was a huge difference in power, but the boost curve was way smoother and third "was" stronger with the AP, i never got a chance to get it on the dyno, I couldn't begin to tell you what the numbers were. I may not have driven it hard all the time, but it only takes once to break something.

Mostly stock 2006 WRX with over 50,000km and the gearbox is still holding.

Cobb Stage 2 on my 06 WRX for 32k miles. So far holding up great, though my clutch is getting pretty hard. I granny shift and slip the clutch a bit when I drive hard (which 80% of the time ). I also rev match and use my brakes quite a bit which helps. Brake pads and clutches will be cheaper then new gears anyday.

LOL...yea i know that, but just seeing all these stage II guys bang away shifting and blowing it up, makes me wonder if there are any shifting with the same style while stage I or stock and blowing it up...

My guess is most of these failures are from downshifting improperly and not rev matching rather than hard upshifting. Just a thought.

wow man, real nice numbers for an 18g and meth! that torque must feel like something else when you're fully spooled!

06 wrx wagon putting down 300whp and 350wtq

has about 50 passes on her, probably about half of those at this power level.

no problems yet, stock clutch too @ 22Kmi. However... i never slam the gears, i ALWAYS feel every gear in.

you'd have to be completely careless to break your tranny at just stage2...
you guys have to understand that it won't break unless you are asking for it to break. don't fall for these "it broke while cruising"... they are just saying that so they won't get bashed for not knowing how to drive, or don't want to accept the fact that they suck at shifting. even with a VF39... stay away from launching and shocking the tranny...

i just went stage 2, but only a cobb dp...rest pretty much stock. power is drastically increased as far as my SOTP dyno...

if mine breaks because of this, i'll be surprised because although i know the power is there, i try to get max mpg. which means stay out of boost, etc...hahhhha...

so if mine ever breaks, we can all agree that very minimal stage 2 will break trannys ;-)

I have theory on the tranny issue. Those why say that they were just "cruising" when third gear went out are probably totally right. It may very well be that you were cruising at the time the gear blew its cookies, but that's because you stressed the crap out it earlier.

Just because the gear goes out at a particular time does not mean that is the instance the gear failed. It likely experieced lots of abuse and just happened to give in while "cruising". The prior abuse built up and the fact that stress was not being put on the gear at the moment it failed is not relevent.

I've been stage II for about 20 thousand miles on my 07 WRX with no problems in the tranny department yet and I'm getting ready to strap on a VF39 and I'm really not worried.

Default Stg2 w/o problems

I've been at Stg2 for 15k miles w/o any problems, shift gently but make 3rd gear pulls onto the freeway every day.

I was stock and smoked my clutch at 3000 miles and drag raced every other weekend.

I was at stage 1 for 20,000 miles and launched often, no problems

I was at stage 2 for 10,000 miles and launched a lot, no problems

Currently running a vf43, have had for about 5000 miles, never launched but have put the hammer down on all gears, no problems

Looking to do a 6sp swap or 1-4 ppg's

My car has 54,000 miles
