Default south bay ding repairs, 7.5k stuff to do

just hit 7.5k miles, will change oil and filter, and cabin filter, but one other thing I have to have fixed is a ~1/8" dia. speck on the drivers door. Have tried ordering the midnight pearl black touch up paint from subaruparts.com, but either wasn't in stock or is on backorder. Any other on-line dealers have it (liberty??).

Any good local south bay or peninsula places who could profesionally fix this ding which probably came from a bad road flying pebble? Is it something a dealer could do? or any body shop? Thanks!

I am guessing he has paint chips more than dings. I have plenty of those so I would be interested if someone did a good job.

Cheers

Default thanks!

Thanks for the great info. I don't have a dent, but need the spot painted. There's no indentation, other than the paint chipped off.

Default You got it

Titsataki,
You nailed the hammer on the head or however that goes

Yes, no dents, just paint chip, and at this rate, I expect more to come.

It's a shame they don't at least offer an upgrade option for "decent paint upgrade" on a $24K car. Our $13K and $18K VWs have much better paint protection.

yup I got tons of those from the trucks on 580/San Mateo bridge. Make the car look bad and me pissed...

The fanny thing is that I got a paint chip before I picked the car at Livermore Subaru and they fixed it and it looks perfect .... I keep wanting to go and ask for their painshop place . They did a very good job I cannot see the spot the chip was... I may stop by there and see if I can find out. I will update the board.

Cheers

Default thanks, please do update

I'm not sure how tricky your Sedona red is, but the midnight pearl black is a tricky color -- if you look at it at a specific angle and lighting, it can look dark blue.

I do have some touch up paint coming from subaruparts.com but I'm not sure that is what the body shops / detailers use to fix these things.

Please do update us if you find a place that does a good job on these chips. I wouldn't worry so much if the chips just went to primer, but the chip on my door goes to bare metal.

My porsche has a million chips as I've driven and raced it all over the place in different states, but not to bare metal, since 1976, they had the insigt to hot dip galvanize all body parts. I don't know if Subaru does this or not.

most of my chips are to bare metal. the dealership place used the factiry paint because they did not have it back in March so it took them 3-4 days (but that is another whine thread )

Cheers
