Default racing slick tires

What are the best tires in terms of grip, for short ( 1-2 minutes) tarmac hillclimb races?

if you can get a little heat in them before the start I's assume the Hoosier A series tires would be right up your ally. The A (autox) compound heats up quicker than the R, so you would probably want to start about.

Other than that, i have no idea.

I already use the A6, with which I am happy, but since there is no regulation for DOT tires I thought I can find anything better that, like racing slicks.

If it's dusty at all, I'd stick with the A6 or V710s. Otherwise, some R25 Hoosier or R115-R210 (depending on weight) Goodyear could be an option.

Sometimes it is dusty.

For what Gooyear models are you talking about?

Is any good race tire suppliers out there?

Not sure where you hillclimb, but the ones around here have variable conditions.
An autocross type tire is the most appropriate.
Other slicks take too long to warm up.

You could always check out what the competition is using.

I believe that autoxers in Prepared and Mod classes typically use slicks. Seems like they would need a lot of grip immediately. Not sure about the dust issue though.

Only reason I bring up the dust is the low-grip situation at the Solo2 Nationals last year and the P and M guys wishing for DOT-R tires.

1-2 minute runs? Definitely go with the A6s or v710s. A6s won't last as long but will provide slightly more grip over the v710s.

Size could be a determining factor as well. the v710s don't have as many options as the A6 does.

Anything longer than about 3 or 4 minutes, I'd look into some road racing compound as mentioned in previous posts (aka R6, RA-1s, etc).

The longest race is 2.5 minutes, the shortest 55 seconds, so there is no time to warm up unless I use heater blankets.

The competition, i.e the fastest car, uses AVONS, but they use heaters to get them up to temperature.
However abient temps are quite high, 85-90F.

I wonder any of the Yokohama, Michelin or othe Super soft slicks wouldn't do the job?
