Thumbs up 5 Zigen Fireball!!! (a return look after 2 mos)

AS some of you know... I picked up the 5 Zigen Fireball back in October.

It's been over 2 months and I love the thing!!!

3" cat-back piping with a stainless canister and tip...

Audio wise inside... a nice tollearable rumble... but outside, it has that deep agressive sound especially off-throttle... it's gotten deeper since I first installed it...

after a month of hard winter ... it is withstanding the salt and roadgrime just fine. I ussually wash my car once a week too and inspect the undercarriage and suspension...

HP gains are noticeble as boost increases by 1 pound... I will be adding the Blitz SUS intake as well... Dyno testing in Japan shows a 25-27 HP gain with just the SUS and Fireball exhaust. Can't WAIT!!!

I think the only thing that could be better is the 5Zigen Titanium exhaust... that thing is so light!!!

The price was awesome too compared to other systems out there... if interested, talk to Shawn (or anyone else) at http://www.AutoImaging.com ... that's where I picked mine up at... tell them you are an I-Club member too!!!

Hope that helps some of you decide!!!

I will also be adding the BLITZ SBC i-D and the Power ID... I'll let you know about the increase ASAP....

I think I am going on three months. Still nice and solid. Never a rattle using stock hangers. Great sound

ya i bought one for a hell of a price of 400 bucks plus shipping way back when.....

the only thing i dont agree with you on is the 25 - 27 hp gain.....i dont think that is possible from a catback system of any kind....especially one with a resonator.....

i do have a boost gauge though.....works perfectly....the blitz dual TT one....the boost is about the same....about .3 bar more in WOT but settles at around a bar....which is stock....what the fireball actually does is let it boost sooner...which is where you feel the gain....almost a full 1000 rpm sooner to be infact.....

sounds good.....especially when you get over 4500 rpm....sounds like an italian v twin baby.....mmmm.......

Default good monkey

thanks monkeytronZ for the better picture...

the hp gains were with the exhaust and Blitz SUS filter... not just the exhaust... we will see once I get the Power ID and SUS put in as to what readings I get...

Till then...

Man, I really wish that I did not get the spoiler sometimes. Much cleaner look IMO.

So does anyone know if godspeed's downpipe will bolt up with no problems? I haven't got anyone to confirm this yet. What other downpipes are you guys running w/ the 5Zigen?

I too have a 5Zigen Cat-Back section. It's the Miracle Fire (smaller cans & completely stainless). I love it soo much. Great sound! 5Zigen is great.

I have the Miracle version too, and it's so light, only 16 lbs even though it's stainless steel instead of titanium. I was looking for a full stainless system, with 3" pipe, so it just fit the bill. Now I have to find a muffler shop to replace the donut adaptor (i guess its 2 1/4" diameter? or may be 2 1/2") that supposed to connect to the stock pipe since I replaced my downpipe as well.

It's a nice light weight system without the price tag of a titanium system, a little loud though, and the silencer works great on cutting down the noise, but at the same time, it also cut at least 20hp , which means if you put the silencer back on, the performance is worst than stock. If you can stand the noise, get it, but for me, I have a resonator installed after 2 weeks.

Oh no not me! I love the sound! I always get home from work after 11:00 pm, I know every one can hear me, but I don't car! They put up w/ me. ( it used to be worse when I had my mini truck w/ air bags). Although I do always carry the silencer w/ me... just in case.
Will.

Oct 2001 purchase. Still doing great. I did go with a stealth look, about a year ago. I pulled the rear section and coated it in high temp black paint. 66k miles on the subie, and about 50k of those with the 5z.

I agree. I just put on this exhaust and really like it. Absolutely no drone at highway cruising but a nice tone when you step on it. It's a nice system that fits perfectly & looks good. I'd recommend it if you're looking for an exhaust that isn't too loud.

Wondering why you plan on adding the blitz id powermeter and boost controllers? I just use my Powermeter and id2 boost controller as an expensive boost gauge and hp meter. I have a cobb stage 2 setup, so can't go with anything but factory boost control.

I too had the 5 zigen catback fireball on my 99 rs for about 5 and half years. Upon selling my rs a few weeks ago i noticed while under the car that my exaust had severly rusted at the welds around the back of the canister. Now I dont know how long it was like this but it was pretty bad. I'm a avid auto crosser and I'm sure this exaust has seen some above normal usage. Overall I was happy with the sound not to loud perfect tone seemed to get louder as I got older but maybe it was the gapping holes caused by the rust.
