sounds like to me your setting a speed sensor code which uses the abs/trac light and others on your dash to communicate with you stating there is issue. Take it into Subaru and have them diagnose it.

Hey Jerry,
The fluid looks fine, about 8th of an inch from max. Only happens if you press the brake pedel down and as your letting up on it, is when the lights come on.

Odd for sure, haven't seen this issue on my dad's specB but the TPMS was broken from the factory...he should be coming in soon to have that fixed.

This problem started about a month ago, would happen every now and then. Now it happens when every you press the brakes down and release them.

I'd leave the cleaning to the dealership, that way if they mess it up, you get a free sensor.

but it doesn't sound like a floor mat under the brake pedal type issue. sounds more electronic.

does it have an aftermarket autostart?

sounds like an issue with the brake switch or maybe the wiring (see above question lol). once the car decides it can't trust the brake switch it shuts down the abs, trac, and cruise because all depend on the brake switch.
