So with all the work Ive been doing for the past 2 weeks on the teams cars I decided to take 20 min and fashion up the good 'ole DIY front lip. It seriously took longer to take off the front bumper than to measure, stick, and align the $10 lip. Also the super strong exterior 3M tape cost more than the rubber
I am really pleased with the subtle clean look, super budget price, and ease of install, this has to be the best bang for your buck home mod to do!![]() ![]() ![]() All comments are welcome- Thanks for checkin it out ![]()

I didnt want top do a write up because there are already some lengthy threads concerning the DIY lip. However in short (its very very very simple).
Step 1: Go to Home Depot, Do it Center, Lowes ect ect Step 2: Find someone who works there Step 3: Ask where their garage door seals are Step 4: Walk to said Isle (lol j/k) find the stripping that is 2" *trust me you will know it when you see it. Step 5: Find another person who works there and ask where thier adhesives are Step 6: Find the strongest exterior 3M tape, mine said SUPER STRONG or something to that effect. You will need to buy 2 rolls. Step 7: Take off you bumper. Step 8: Find a good table or in my case I set it ontop of a trashcan (being higher it was easier to work with) Step 9: Line up and measure how much garage seal you will need then add about 3in in case you make a mistake. Step 10: You will want to off set the tape about 1/8 to 1/4 inch so that it doesnt show Step 11: Start adhereing the seal to the bumper following the body lines on the bumper. Step 12: Re-assempble your front end. Step 13: Open a beer, stand back and listen to the guy who spent $140 on a lip go "why did I spend $140 on a lip" |

nice, but where's the link to the original thread?
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=395394 and it's completely unnecessary to take off the front bumper, just jack up the car so you have some room to work. |

true you dont have to take off the front bumper. I found it easier though, do to the fact you can stand back and make sure its straight, your not laying on the ground, and your arms dont feel like falling off.
![]() But if you are unable to take it off, due to lack of space or lack of tools, then hell yeah jack that thing up and monkey your ass under there! thanks for posting the link to the OT. |

Not sure if you read all of the original thread but you are missing a few steps:
Step 3.5 - Get pissed at yourself for asking an employee who was more than likely a mental defective. Step 10.5 Apply superglue to garage seal, learning from others mistakes Step 14 (optional) - get off the highway someday pissed that your new lip fell off cause you forgot step 10.5 ![]() Other things to consider - use screws and if you do, do it on a hot day or you will get sag when it warms up. Using strips of sheet metal like Mechie3 did and I was thinking of doing. I haven't done this myself yet tho |

thanks for the comments....and I love how people see the plate and expect every little part I put on to be an overpriced, product from over seas.....JDM4LIF = owning 1 mazda 7 hondas 1 acura & 2 subarus....so yes JDM4LIF
no usdm's in that line up and there never will be. This topic was already covered and I can post my last EG which was stolen that had every JDM part under the sun on it.....and what did I have to show for those rare overpriced JDM parts.....half a rolling stripped down chassis on an abandoned street ....... |
