I've been thinking about welding my saddle to the post, as to not have a repeat of the pole-up-ass incident at Lynn that time.

Not bad. Kinda old school, and difficult to get parts for I hear. What bike are you looking at? Link it, we can tell you if it is worth it.

Hmmm. I would say you are getting the short end of the stick. The wheels are the nicest thing about that bike. I would say go for it if you got $200 or so. You could probably find another bike for around the same money that would have a little bit newer parts.
The brakes on your bike are better than those too.

http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2729019/

That would be better for what you are doing, and it's local. That is the 7" version of my bike, so it would be great for freeride, but is also good on normal trails. The only thing you may need to replace anytime soon is the rear shock, and the rear shock on this is still better than the old RC on the Norco.

Haha that was the first bike I ever raced. Due to 8 inch breaks the rear triangle is like glass. Trust me I went through a couple before they beefed it up with a gusset. I loved that bike, But I would stay away. plus customs can be a nightmare .

Did you try craigslist? Pinkbike rarely works for me, I have the best luck through craigslist and Bustedspoke. You should easily be able to sell your bike for 1200-1400 it is an 09 right?

They seem alright, but I've never been an inverted stanchion fan (then again. I've also never ridden a Dorado, which apparently are good though made by manipoo).

The only shiver I've had time on was a single crown, and it flexed hard under stress, too much so for my taste. I've heard the same about the dual crowns, but I've never worked with them much beyond those that come through the shop I work at. Having an arch on your lowers braces the stanchions substantially so having your lowers effectively attached to the crown and thus no arch... flextastic.

But to each his own, a lot of guys ride em and love em.

If your buying that bike though, it looks sweet. Norcos are bomb and its got the revolution wheelset on it which is a big plus, and I think I also spy the transition pedals, can't really tell though (best pedals ever anyway )

There is no need to rush it, I would sign up on BS and get your bike up on there. You will be able to find a nice bike sooner or later.

There's a lot of beat to hell, pieced together DH and FR bikes being sold online (Pinkbike, MTBR, NSMB, Ridemonkey, etc...) that unsuspecting bargain hunters end up buying. Anyone who's ridden DH knows how much it destroys bikes. Most seasoned riders can spot a pieced together POS DH bike that some 17-year old kid is selling. Old forks (like that Shiver listed above), mismatched wheels and brakes, and oddball parts are all indicators that a bike is a mutt made from random parts in someone's garage. Used DH bikes are like hookers. They might look good from a distance, but up close they're not so pretty and they're usually hiding some serious issues.

Those damn hooker bikes give you diseases too.

If I were you, I would throw one of these on a credit card, and work on selling your bike.

Sell your bike for 1200 and have a $3000 bike for $300. Plus, it's new and rides great.

thats sexy. if there was anything left on the CC to put it on i would. but there isn't. this is hot too. and a little less expensive, is there not as good of components on this or something?

EDIT: i just want to thank all you guys, you are helping me out alot with this whole bike search. you are preventing me from getting potential junk. wish i had put more thought into getting my bike in the first place tho.

That one isn't bad either. The 7 point would be a much more versatile trail bike, that could still handle anything at Highland. The main trail designer Dave Smutok rode a IH 6 point or 7 point for the past few years before getting sponsored by Rocky Mountain.

That Kumicho would be a lot better than the Atomic. For $200 the 7 point is better than everything else anywhere near that price.

You should buy my bike off me it's brand new, minus 4 or 5 rides on it.

she actually was a little mad at first. she was like why isn't anything ever good enough for you, blah blah blah...
and then i heard something about trading her in for a better girl, i said it doesn't sound like a bad idea and then WHAM! i got socked in the ribs like 6 times by her. but hey now she is ok with it, and she is even coping with me being on the computer researching bikes for like 4+ hours a day.
