The riding is awesome right now where the snow has been packed down and is frozen solid. Nokian studded tires FTW! Now I need to get some 29's for my single speed.

Oh, and in case any MTB'ers might be interested...

I'm selling this Surly really cheap:

Great to hear people are still riding. No hard ice on the trails here to speak of, so my Nokians are warming up in the basement. Still plenty of branches/sticks on the trails though. My friends and I have lost at least three dreraileurs since Halloween.

Derailleurs are for suckas! Single speed FTW!

The trails were really muddy today around here, plus there was a little snow left in the shaded areas. Cornering was damn sketchy.

Anyone in the Worcester area looking to ride through the winter send me a PM. I am set up for night riding if anyone is game. I am not familiar with the local riding areas with the exception of Hodges Village, and West Thompson Dam. The last time I rode Vietnam, it was still trespassing.

My club rides at Big River and Thompson Dam on weekends, and I try to hook up with the Nemba rides on Wednesday nights.

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear....

If I lived down there I would. I ride all winter and love it. In fact, I had an extra pair Nokian 294's lying around at home, so I bought a bike just so I could put them on something.

Went out tonight at Vietnam in Milford, MA. There was only 2"-3" of fluffy snow. Not a lot of hard ice, so I didn't use my studs.

Very nice! Have you built it up yet?

I thought I was the only one who buys cycling X-Mas presents for myself. I had some Nokian studded snows lying around and needed a bike to put them on, so I bought this:

Emptied the spare parts bucket...fork, wheels, bars, stem, and cranks are all mocked up. Got a pile of parts showing up this coming week. Will post pics when complete

The MTB riding is pretty sick right now around here. Trails where no one hikes/snowshoes/skis have the perfect amount of snow and are an absolute blast even with regular tires, but the high traffic trails are icy and require studded tires for sure. I took a nasty crash on a semi-frozen stream crossing, but that's part of the game.

I've always been an avid skier too, but honestly, I wouldn't give a <beep> if it didn't snow anymore this whole damn winter.

Yes, you should buy a Transition Double and then go to the "Colonnade" under the I-5.

Again, buy this:

Then go here!

Now that there's finally some warming and freezing going on, the trails are firmed up and the MTB riding is awesome. Followed a snowmobile trail for a few miles today and ended up on a pond. Studded tires FTW!

Can't wait to get some riding in. I think it's mandatory that I get a new front fork since mine makes crazy noises and tends to scare riders in front of me.

Yeah it might be time to put that one out to pasture. And while I don't care for marzocchi anythings, this is a pretty decent price:

I am happy to see this thread floating up at the top again! I'm putting new suspension and drivetrain on my Felt Redemption this month. I'm not much of a winter rider, so hoping we see some thaw in March.

I might try a road ride early this afternoon if anyone wants to come along. Riding from Charlton to Worcester and back. Bring your Mrs. Gulch fenders if you want to stay dry and clean.

I've never heard a skier complain about fresh pow, but it's great to hear how passionate you are about the sport Finally gonna hop on a bike this year because I need my mountain fix til next ski season. Trolling craigslist and getting some leads but was wondering if anyone on here can help... Looking for a full suspension USED burly bike (6ft, 200+lbs) in the $800-$1K price range that will get me started. I was looking into a barely used 2006 Kona Dawg Primo, but again I am new to this so any suggestions/leads would be appreciated
