Many years ago I rode a couple different hardtails for DH at Attitash and on some local freeride trails. While it was overall harsher, it's amazing how much it improves your riding skills. You really learn to pick good lines and throw the bike around compared to people who just point their 9" travel FS bikes straight ahead and plow down the hill.

I rode Killington on a GT with no suspension back in the day. Thought I was going to die.

One of my old DH hardtails, back when single crown long-travel forks were just becoming popular. 26/24 setup.

that seems like a super niche tire. I might need new tires by the middle of the season, definitely not getting those.

Silly PB with their April fools jokes. One year the whole site was upside down, one year it was changed to a dirtbike theme.

Just sold my Trek Y-26 full suspension in favor of a Trek / Fisher Marlin 29'er, I freakin love it! It weighs 14lbs LESS than my Y-26 was, it feels so good on the trails too.

Installed my Nashbar (Wellgo) clipless pedals and Exustar shoes today and took it for a spin. I totally drank the 29'er Kool Aid, but we'll see how I fair after my first season, and if I out grow the cheaper SR Suntour front fork too quickly (versus the Manitou RS-R I rode for 4 years.)

Yeah, 29ers are awesome for XC riding. I wish I still had mine. Gonna get another single speed 29er this spring just cuz it's such a blast to ride. One can never have too many bikes! (although my wife may disagree)

BTW, you're lucky you can go for a ride. We've still got 2 feet of snow on the ground.

I have a Kona One20 Deluxe that I use for XC racing with my high school and a KHS DJ300 based dirt jumping bike for well...dirt jumping in my spare time and a bit of urban riding when I switch the wheels up. I tried downhilling on my Kona last year on a trail here and it wasn't bad at all so I might do some more this year, just don't want to go over any jumps that are too big and kill the suspension haha. Can't wait to get a rack for my Subaru

My sister raced that over the weekend. Practice was all sunny and dry, then the sky opened up and nothing but mud.

So I got my wife a new rear wheel and tire for her mtn. bike, and last night I was about to swap everything over. Then she said, "I want to know how do all this myself." So with me there for moral support, she removed the wheel, the cassette, and the tire, and then put the new ones on. Standing there watching her drink a beer and work on her bike, I thought to myself, "Damn I love this woman."

Oh, and I built up my new AM rig with some old and new parts. Can't wait for the trails to dry out.

That was a fantastic price even for an 09. Congrats!

Anyone interested in a barely used Large 08 Transition Covert with a 10 Fox RP23 frame? 550.

Went on my first real ride of the year this past saturday with all the Dieselbikes guys, huge crew. I had to ride my slalom bike while my other bike is in the shop. I would not recommend anyone go anywhere near Lynn woods with a hard tail.

Was somehow able to convince my girlfriend to buy a mountain bike. It was rather hard to find one considering her requirements for a bike, had to be cheap, and look "cool/cute" to her and be able to fit her (she's 4'11"). Got lucky in a search last night and found one that she really likes. Initially, she said she wanted a $50 bike of craigslist, and I kept telling her it would never happen, lol.

Anyways, she's looking to get a GT Avalanche 3.0, we are in a toss up over the V and Disc, I told he I would pay the extra cash for the Disc though, giving us more room for potential build up if she really gets serious about it. Keep in mind, this is a entry level bike for her, I know it's not the greatest bike in the world, but good for the price and person...

$350 from BikesDirect. Anyone use them before? I have heard very bad and very good things..
