the unamused sticker on that gruitr sort of gives away your nasioc affiliation.

After 2 years off the bike (back injury), the dr said get back on it. Went to nam Friday afternoon with ecfreeride and out around whitehall resevoir solo today. I'm knocking out the issues with the bike one by one. It's getting there.

I'll likely head to nam next weekend again (it's way different from last time I was there.....around 05).

Installed....

now I just have to clean the chain

Also, I have never been to Vietnam. Tragic, I know. Is it 45 pound unpedalable DH bike friendly or will I be hating life?

Hmm, kind of. I mean you'll probably still be hating life between 10 foot sections of drops. It's a weird place. the focus seems to be just building gigantic drops over and over in different spots with very little emphasis on building actual trails.

I rode my Sunday at 'nam and had plenty of fun. Had to hike up certain sections, but it was still more fun for DLS, TNT, and the rocky power line runs.

Indeed. When my lady is bringing home the bacon after she graduates it will be easier to spend the $$$ though.

What does that trip cost you on average? Do you rent or ship your own bike?

I went last September during the week of labor day. 4 of us split a condo in whistler village and a truck rental. Truck, condo, flight came to about $1000, I boxed my bike and took it on the plane (50$ each way) in a custom box I built to be durable and meet airline regs (FYI bike rentals are costly there). We bought a 3 day park pass ( I canít remember how much$) and we rode Squamish and the north shore which is free (shuttle runs) and we all took turns filling the truck with gas.
I found the food and beer to be the most expensive part of the trip, and we even cooked dinner in the condo most nights.
So...you can prob do the whole trip for somewhere in the range of 1300-2000 depending on your thriftiness

I usually plan based around jetblue specials, so airfare ~300 ways to seattle plus 25 for my bike evoc DH bike bag, drive up with my sister and camp at the whistler RV park. We've been there a few times so they hook us up with an RV spot for our tents, ends up being like 200 for a week. 3 day pass was about $150 I believe, then 40 dollars a day from the 4th day on. Food is pricey in Whistler proper, so I usually stop in Squamish for groceries on the way up for the first few days. Average I'd say trips are usually around $1000 give or take how saucy I feel.

it's pretty rad. Plenty of space and protection. I can fit my pads in there no problem as well. Pretty durable to boot. My sister has one as well, big fan of it too.
