Default At what age did you decide what you wanted to be when you grew up?

Just wondering. I mean everyone can't be an astronaut or a doctor or a pimp when they grow up.

I honestly think it just happened to me, and I'll be 26 next month.

I was talking to a friend who's dad, at 46 years old, retired from the Navy and went back to school after working a few years at some regular job. He went to school to be a lawyer, now he owns his own firm.

It kind of inspired me to think about what I'm really passionate about. I kind of decided that I'm really passionate about Child Custody and winning custody for divorced dad's who's ex-wife is screwing them out of the visitation or custody that they probably deserve or the court has ordered them. I mean I can't be the only person getting dicked over in this world.

So here I am, looking into local law schools and whatnot to see what it takes to be a lawyer, because it's the one thing I'm truly passionate about.

What's your "When I grow up... " story?

I never decided.

I picked a major when I went to college, then got a job doing something else when I graduated, then took a job as a software developer.

It's not what I'd prefer to be doing...but it pays the bills.

That's where I am now. I'm 26, working in IT as a trainer, and I ****ing hate it. It's 2007, my retarded ass can use a computer, why can't some of these other backwards ass people.

Anyways, I digress.

Seconded, except I'm not an old man like Grap.

I've just been making **** up as I go along, and likely always will. Keeps it interesting, I suppose.

Nah, not about revenge at all. My ex will get whats coming to her for the problems she's created and it won't be by my hand. That has nothing to do about it.

I talk to folks, guys, all the time that say their ex is screwing them over. I really think I can make a difference, make things more fair for men. Women are not always the best provider, and the legal system needs changing.

I'm 30 and been to 3 different schools with lots of different majors. Ran outta money again no degree. Still working at the same hotel for 7 years, could be digging ditches i guess. Only good news is that i haven't grown up yet, so i guess i have time to figure it out still.

It's not hard to be a bottom of the class half-assed lawyer. But it is hard to be a damn good attorney - my wife is one of the latter.

PM if you have law school questions, she just graduated from Emory. IIRC, REDWAGN is in law school too.

Oh, and I have no idea how old I was, I can't remember not wanted to be teh PO-lice.

Once I get closer to understanding what I'll have to do, I probably will have A **** TON of questions.

You like that Brazilian place there in Atlanta? I might just have to take you both to dinner and bring a notepad to ask all my questions

Always knew I wanted to be a pilot. But thought it was out of reach and that I would never get a pilot slot in the military, so how else was I supposed to get thousands of hours to get a flying job? Last February I decided to work on my private pilot, which taught me that becoming an instructor helps you build hours, and here I am, about 2 months away from having my instructor license. It also helps that decent regional airlines only require about 500 hours of total time to get hired these days. If all goes to plan this time next year I'll be a first officer for a regional!

I turned 22 in January.

Went to my first college for business, then switched to communications for a semester and hated it, so I went with marketing and got my Associate degree. A professor told me to check out a merchant marine academy with him because it has a great business program and he was teaching at both schools. I went, loved it, so I enrolled.

Year and a half later, I graduated with a Bachelors in International Transportation & Trade (international business with emphasis on importing/exporting, etc). Sooo much money to be made in this field it's ridiculous.

However, I still don't know which direction I want to go in. I'm in pharmaceutical sales for the maritime industry right now, but I always wanted to become a ship broker. That's like the 3rd highest paying job in the world I've heard.

BTW, I'm 24 now

I'm 26 and figured it out last year about this time... Actually, I knew it when I was really young when I built 2-3 scale models a week.

Yeah, I was the cool kid in class...

I'm now a steel detailer and work with structural engineers and architects on a daily basis. I work in an office and tell people in the field where to put beams, columns and connections. Plus, I get to say the word erect all day long without getting snarky looks from others...

I get paid to build 3D models all day!!!

It's great!

Seriously, 200-300 bucks is cheap compared to trying to sit any lawyer around here just to talk for a couple hours.
