Default AC dryer

I've done searching and can't come up with an the answer.

Where is it? I thought it was in the end tube on the condensor towards the passenger side but the dryer that I got from Subaru is too big to go into that. Please help. This 100+ degrees here in Vegas is going to kill me

Default Ac DRYER

What card do you have?

if it is a imperza, there are two types, the first series 2001-2002 the dryer is included in the condenser, so if you have to replace it, you have to replace the whole condeser, after 2002 the dryer could be replace. it is a alumminum pipe attached with a clamp to the condeser.

I pulled the condensor out and I have a dryer from subaruparts.com. The dryer clearly does not go into that condensor. I can't even do anything with the tube on the end of the condensor.

i have an 02 wrx and was going to service the a/c so planning ahead i went to the subaru dealer and priced a "receiver/drier" they gave me a quote of $160. so if the drier itself doesn't technically exist as a single unit and a "condensor" prices out at like $260, was the dealer full of sh%@?

it does make sense that it is part of the condensor because i searched all over and couldn't find anything even closely resembling a drier. i followed the line out of the condensor and it went into the firewall and i highly doubt its in the plastic housing with the evaporator

looking in the service manual as well as in the diagram from subaruparts, I don't see a separate receiver/drier anywhere in the HVAC system.

Well, I found out that the condensor in my car is the wrong one. It was for 01 and older Impreza's. 01 and older, the dryer was an integrated part of the condensor. 02 and up, they are supposed to be seperated. I actually have to get a new condensor so that I can install my dryer.

160 bucks for the dryer? Your dealer is on crack. Get a hold of subaruparts.com. They had one shipped to my door for 97 bucks. I won't go through my dealer here in Vegas because of that, even though they're 15 minutes away. The dealer has the market cornered so they over charge everything. Talk to Trish and she'll help you out though.

Yeah, it's been really brutal here in Vegas without AC. Here is some pictures of the dryer.

It is supposed to mount upside down on the side of the condensor. There is 2 lines that come out at the bottom and point up and this just slides onto them. There is a clamp that holds it in place.
