Default How to sell a modded car in CA.

How many of you have sold your modded cars to people in CA. I know that the seller is responsible for smog issues but other than selling the car as a non-op are there any other ways?

Reason im asking is i might be getting a new job soon which requires me to sell my car but i have no time to return it too stock.

i know someone has an answer!

thanks in advance.

#1) Modified cars = buyers thoughts. This car has been abused and driven hard. Why buy this junk?
#2) the buyer knows about the kind of mods you got and think its a good bargain.

so it probably is better for you to part out, besides you will get those cash back anyways. if you have your car modied they will use it against you to bring down the price for depreciating the car over stock.
I dont know.. that's just how I see it

you could try to sell the car private party... the car just has to be smogged before transfer of title, seeing as how your car is a 2002 (if it were a 2004, you'd be exempt from smog check when transferring ownership)... you dont have to be the one to smog it...

my friend bought a 2002 wrx wagon fully modded w/ a vf34, injectors, pump, turboxs exhaust, ecutek etc. he had to put the exhaust back to smog to make sure it'd pass smog, which it did.

some people get attached to their cars- they may not wish that fate on something they cared for...

it's the law. However, with private sales, you can pass the responsibility to the buyer. Just hope it doesn't backfire on you (buyer comes back, etc)
