Default 07 STI HID headlamps in 07 WRX?

ive been searching.. but im having a hard time piecing all the info together.

some have told me that its direct plug and play (i have a hard time beleiving that)

some have told me that i need to rewire..

some say its gonna ruin my wiring either way i go...

can anyone help me? give me a straight answer? What do i need to install these lights safely?

did you get the ballasts? if it doesn't have ballasts it won't ignite the capsules.

i think lightwerks was assuming you had all the components.

Yeah.. suprisingly i did turn on the lights haha.

the high beam worked.. but nothing from the projector at all.

i DID only have one light plugged in.. would that pose any sort of problem or cause any issues with my troubleshooting?

Ill go home and re-try everything again tonight..

just to make 100% sure... check the link i posted above.. those exact lights should be a simple plug and play into my WRX? i need to do NOTHING but install the lights and turn them on?

If you disconnect your DRL's that should go away. there is a yellow 10 prong plug behind the glovebox in your car.. unplug it and you should be good to go.

(daytime running lights) search for it.. there is a good post with pictures.

unfortunately i cant find anything at ALL for 07's except things that say its NOT the same as 06 lol...

can anyone confirm my problem? or can anyone confirm that there shouldnt be?

lol yea i unplug both day time running lights and that didnt work.. the driver side still came on but the passenger still flickered..but i found out that i have one bad wire running to the head lights. so i rewired it and the passenger stop flickering. it is steady and now i can drive at night...

i guess try to find some bad wires and see if you put your old lights on and if it still works that way..if it does then you have some issues like i did.. it took me 3 days and 6 hours to make it work.. be patient and it is hard to do so haha hope you solve the problem soon..

actually the DRL doesnt do anything but turn off the headlights during the day.. and it gives you the power to turn the headlights on when ever you want just like the old school cars.. my head lights work with the DRLs on and when it was pulled off..i just had a bad wiring running to the passenger side and that is why it flickered..now it is fine.. but i am not sure why both your headlights doesnt come on..

ok.. i tried again today.. to make sure i wasnt going insane.

NO dice. i think there are issues with the 07's and they dont straight swap. i have seen it done on 06's but i dont find anything on 07's.

if anyone wants to buy a brand new set of painted STI lights... let me know im over it.

sorry to hear your troubles jessej,

I have absolutely no experience with HIDs but I just bought a pair from autodoodad on the groupbuy sub forum. Anyways, I've been reading a lot on what to do with my install.... I haven't done it yet but from what I've read....

the flickering problem has been associated with the DRLs still running them... now I know you said you disconnected it? how did you do this? because i read about 2 ways and it seems that 1 of the 2 ways is not suppose to solve the issue.

Other than that, no clue

my issue isnt with flickering at all! i have NO power to the headlights. Its really weird. i dont think i have bad lights.. but i could have been screwed

I did the crappy disconnect by the strut tower.. not behind the glove box.

i just dont understand whats wrong. I dont understand why these wont light up???

oh no lights AT ALL? ouch....

Maybe you should try calling your local subaru dealer and just ask if it's plug/play for the 07 wrx. It wont hurt to just ask.

so, lets see..
if you plug you stock lights in they work, correct?
if so, then its something with the HIDS. now, try connecting them directly to the battery, do they light?
