Forester Tim Bailey Tuned Forester XT

Tim Bailey from PDX tuning came down to So Cal for a tuning session and he managed to massage my foz to excellence...(blue line is 91 octane and red line is 100 octane)

power mods:
ported/polished VF39
ported/polished STi exhaust manifold
Helix catless downpipe
Stromung 3" catback (no taper)
STi uppipe
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
K&N panel filter
Cobb AP

anybody sitting on the fence about getting a protune should take the plunge, this is my second tune (first one was done by another tuner and had some hesitation issues) 355wtq feels awesome!!!! the tires break loose in second gear and I'm running Falken Azenis 615

My 100oct results were very similar. But dont let the #'s fool you, my 100oct map is good another 2mph in my trap speeds, which put me at 109.7, even though it only made an extra 10whp.

I'd have to say that the lack of a lot more power would be because there is no upgraded intercooler in this setup.

i disagree i think the tuner didn't put anymore timing into the motor
no matter how heatsoaked the intercooler is as long as it was consistently heat soaked the 100 octane should have been able to run more timing

werd. You should be seeing atleast +20WHP across the board with a good 100 octane tune compared to crap 91 on that turbo. Did the tuner mention anything out of whack?

sorry, I have an STi TMIC. I think the lack of "a lot more power" was because of the ambient temp and intake temps being high. (this was on a 100 deg day)

I'm super happy with the tune and don't think any more power is worth "squeezing" out of the 39...a 20G would be the next step, I'm not into squeezing every last HP out of a turbo.

I have 4 maps. one 18psi tapering to 14, another 19psi tapering to 14 (both 91 oct) also, one 20psi tapering to 14 and another 21psi tapering to 14 (both on 100 oct)

thats weird! my 100 octane map gave me +25whp over 91 octane. i would have expected a similar result since we're both using the same turbo...
