Cool First WRX in etown and its mine

Just got great news. My WRX silver sedan arrived today. Will be PDI'd tomorow. This is the first one in Edmonton. Apprently 9 have been sold and this one arrived early. Just in time for spring break. Yippi.

Went over tonight to have a look at it. Only 8km on the odom. Still had lots of dirt and stuff on it from being on the truck...but still looked mighty fine.

I asked the manager to make sure only minimal milage gets put on during PDI. He said no one will drive it beyond the technician who PDI's it. Also made sure they put high octane for the fill up.

Just a thought, but from what I have read from Australia and UK make sure the dealer does a wheel alignment.

When you get the car check your tire pressure carefully with a good shop quality gage. I have yet to buy a new car and have the tires remotely near the right pressure. A buddy of mine who bought a Golf GTI recently discovered that his front wheels were over inflated by 10 psi when he got the car. Not good. Understeeeeeeeer!!!!!

The car had 8km's on it last night and 20kms when I went to pick it up. Not bad. The salesman was iching to drive it, but I took it and left. The tires did look a little under inflated to me. I will need to check. Steering felt good though. I felt no significant turbo lag (as discussed in this forum). I guess it is all relative, but thos is the fastest car I have ever driven, so I am not complaining. All I can say is WOW!!!

Chris,

I may be able to find time. Not sure of my complete schedule (married). If a meeting is set up, I will try to come. 200km on the new WRX and it seems to be running even easier than when I drove it off the lot. I am just eager to get those 1600kms under my belt so that I can let out some serious rpm. Even under 4000rpm it is very easy to pull away from anyone else in the bat of an eye (keep the acceleration moderate too). I just purchased my personal plates WRX, to top the whole day off. Again WOW!

Darrell

PS- the seat warmers are a real bonus. Love Em.

First off, I'm just glowing green with envy at the moment !! Congrats on the new wheels!

Some questions:

Is there a separate switch for the seat warmers? If so, where's it located? Heated mirrors also?

And did you get a spare key with the car? The alarm and keyless entry is built into the key right?

Are there any other little differences on our version of the car?

Oh, and for who ever is reading this, I just took delivery of MY WRX...

articWRX: first off, you have two different settings for the heated seats. and yes there are seperate switches for the seats (rear seats arent heated). the heated mirrors are controlled by the rear window defrost button.
i dont know if the keyless entry is built into the key (it looks like it though in the picture). all the canadian cars are the same...

ARTICWRX,

To the key question... I got 2 sets of keys and 2 remote key entry contollers. One set came with a valet key. The keyless remote entry is kinda nice. You can choose to have the horn beep on open and close or keep it silent. If you hold down the unlock button, the car goes into panic mode and starts blowing the horn in "car alarm fashion" ....continous blasts of 2 beeps. You have to hit the unlock button to stop it. Makes for a great gag to scare people looking at the car and getting to close

Markus, It drove through St Albert 3 times today. Was half expecting to see you pull up beside me for a look.

wrxcanada - Did you had the chance of talking about accessories with your dealer? If so, what goodies did you get and how are the prices?

Hey Pollux,
When are you expecting your WRX?

And WRXcanada, do I understand that the keyless entry is not integrated into the key itslef as is portrayed in the brochure?

wrxcanada,

HAHAHAHA. I'm in Powell River, BC, right now so the chances of me chasing you down a couple days ago were slim and none. That is assuming I would have been able to chase you down.

I think we have a boost junkie on our hands

The keyless entry is a seperate little contoller (like a remote car starter) and is not integral to the key. I don't mind it, but integral to the key would be better.

I asked the dealer about accessories, but they knew nothing. I hope they come soon. I would like to add the STI exhaust system like the one offered in the US options. The car is too quite for my liking. You can here the flat four growl if you listen real close, but it really needs a new exhaust to get any kinda impressive sound.

I asked Subaru City about an STi exhaust for my car once and their response was pathetic. Here's the link... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum8/HTML/001058.html
