Default Tinted Plates

Is there any place in Anchorage that sells tinted license plate covers? I had originally decided not to put any on for the the legal reasons, but I kind of figure I'll be getting pulled over for something else anyway, if I get pulled over(speeding, illegal tint, etc...).

i can't believe they allow it here, especially how dirty cars get in the winter

dirt + clear plastic over the license plate = can't see anything at all

Nope, they don't. I just figured I'd be getting pulled over for something else, anyways.

I don't think any kind of cover is allowed. I've heard of people getting hassled for snow buildup as well.

yeah, the only covers they actually allow are the frame type with no overlay.

snow buildup? they have to be able to read your plates and if you have snow on it regardless they will give you a warning. not so sure thats the reason, i get snow buildup on regular frames.

mostly for radar stuff and being able to read the plate i think, has to do with the reflecting of the radar and or laser if their using it. then again i may just be full of crap too

the radar wave will bounce off all the metal exterior of the car, nut just the plates...and i don't think clear plastic is going to absorb RF, otherwise i could save the the AF eleventy billion dollars by telling them that
