Default Who's Coming to the Redline Time Attack- Atlanta Motor Speedway Aug 25-26!!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to create a thread for the next round of the Redline Time Attack series being held at Atlanta Motor Speedway the weekend of August 25th-26th.
This is a great opportunity for enthusiasts to hit the track themselves, watch some good old fashioned racing and mingle with top tuners from all around the country.

Saturday is a High Performance Driving Event with no racing. This is your chance to take your own car out onto the 2.5 mile road course at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Sunday is the Redline Time Attack competition.

I copied this off of another thread. But also wanted to know who from the SE will be going to the event. We did our first redline event last week and it was a great time. I think they have a class for just about everyones abilities.

I hope to see alot of people out there, if you do come please stop by and say hello to the TopSpeed Guys.

Doug

it's not just a trackday. and it was done by a non-vendor posting a vendor supported event. every other thread like that gets locked in a heartbeat.

Its $325 bucks for both days, I would suggest signing up for both days if you plan on doing the time attack. Other wise you could sign up for just one day and it would be alot cheaper. But its always nice to get some track practice before the race and the price isn't bad at all.

If I remember correctly you get 5 30min sessions of practice on saturday and then 2 practice sessions on sunday along with two time sessions for the time attack.

I plan to be there with the Nukabe/Cusco crew. Doug you wouldn't happen to have any video or experience at this track? It doesn't seem to be a very popular circuit. I can't find a thing.

i can't find anything either. i never even knew they had a road course. i don't think anyone will have a home track advantage.

i don't see how you go from their crazy steep banking to what looks like a chicane and back on the banking. weird.

I just read on another forum that this was canceled. Is there any truth to this?

Apparently it is true! I just received this email from Nukabe which I'm guessing originated from Redline...

Quote:
The Redline Time Attack event, scheduled for August 25th-26th at Atlanta
Motor Speedway has been canceled. After taking numerous factors into
consideration the leadership at Redline Track Events, LLC has a made a
decision they believe is in the best interest of all parties involved.
After careful consideration of possible track safety issues brought to
the attention of Redline staff, as well as a commitment by Redline to
host high quality events, Redline believed it was the best decision to
cancel this year's event at Atlanta Motor Speedway and focus all efforts
on the remaining three events this year.
Redline Track Events has earned a reputation for organizing safe
and high quality motor sports events since 2001. Redline owes it to the
supporters of their events (drivers, sponsors, teams, media, spectators,
etc) to offer the highest quality and safest events possible. Following
the Gateway International Raceway event, where 3 cars were severely
damaged due to the course layout and lack of run-off room, Redline
believes the increased banking and much higher speeds at Atlanta Motor
Speedway prove to be too much of a risk to justify holding the event at
the facility.
All drivers who have registered for the event will receive a
complete refund of the registration costs. For those who were looking
forward to a Redline Time Attack event in the South East, Redline has
already begun working to secure a date at Road Atlanta in 2008. We
appreciate all of the support from those who registered for the event
and who helped to promote the event. We look forward to seeing you at
Road Atlanta in 2008.
