Default 93 octane on 91 map

I reflashed my ecu with a stage 1 91 octane map. does it make a difference if i use a higher octane, say 93 with the map set for 91?

go ahead and use it.......the extra octane will act as a knock buffer.

I generally run a 91 map with 93...just a little piece of mind on those 90+ degree trackdays!

i'm guessing you bought an AZ car and now are back East?

I got my 06 STi from Phoenix, and drove it back to Louisville.

It had been tuned by DynoComp ... in my limited experience, the car seemed very aggressive.

Retuned for 93+ by Doug at TopSpeed (as close to Louisville as i could get) ...

is that like pEAce of mind?

93 octane will just give you a little safety, definitely not going to hurt anything.

Oops.. didn't mean to scare you. =P Yes, knock as in.. go ahead and do it. The octane is close enough that it can only help. Do go running 116oct gas in there and expect normal performance though.. =)

i had to pull out a good amount of timing on the osecurom stg1 map (which was written for 91) even while i was running 93... so in reality you should be ok, but LOG LOG LOG! i was suprised!
