Default need help! can't read ecu thru ECUFlash

help!

im trying to read my ECU through ECUFlash and it keeps giving me an error...i have the green connectors connected, the fans cycle on and off and the check engine light flashes. any idea what is wrong? i should mention this is a 04 engine and ecu in a 01 coupe. here is what it says in the logs

i tried with and without the flash block, both had the same results. altho i was under the impression that the flash block was only needed when flashing not reading

The ecu id that it is returning shows that to be an 02 ecu (with an early rom revision). Since you say that it is an 04 motor, you were probably choosing the incorrect read method. Try the read method for the 02 wrx. If that doesn't work then 99% of the time those with motor swaps don't have the obdii port wired correctly.

interesting, the flash block for the 04-05 ecu is whats there tho, i guess i'll try again with it as an 02 wrx, thanks

and wiring was done by ECS so i would hope that its done correctly

you guys are my hero's!

i worked! i was getting worried that the wiring was f'd up, then i would be sitting on all my stage 4 parts and have no way to tune it!
